Commonwealth Avenue is a nice area, but $1200 for a studio is too much.

I pay $1075 for a very beautiful 2 bedroom and I live near the Arnold Arboretum b/t Brookline and Jamaica Plain. You should atleast get 1 bedroom for $1200.

Why are you living on Comm Ave? There are a lot of Boston neighborhoods that offer beautiful affordable apartments and are T-accessible to the city or around the city. Try Malden, Medford, Jamaica Plain, Charlestown, South Boston, etc.

222 Commonwealth is right in the middle of Boston (Copley place area)... unless you are earning $80k+, there's absolutely no need to be living in that area.

I agree. Even though Boston is expensive, that is too much for a studio. The Back Bay is a very exclusive, expensive neighborhood but there are several equally good (as in safe) neighborhoods with access to public transit downtown and restaurants, etc. I would say go towards Brookline as someone mentioned that is a good area. I live on Commonwealth Avenue as well, but a few miles west of where you're looking (just on the Allston/Brighton line, also right near Brookline). It's farther from downtown and not quite as upscale, but still safe and a great area. And I know people who pay in the range of $900-950 for huge one-bedrooms.

That is a little high for a studio, I would expect more like $1,000. Although, like I said the Back Bay is one of the most expensive areas in the city. Plus, you'll have to consider what you're paying for. $1200 would be average for a one bedroom. But for that price with the studio are all your utilities included, do you have a reserved parking space (not likely, but always worth looking for!), how much actual space are you getting, etc. Compare it to other studio/one bedrooms in the area and you might see you're getting more and paying more OR are perhaps just over paying.

I live in Brookline about a mile from Fenway. I have an amazing two bedroom condo on Beacon Street and I only pay 1150.00. I would suggest looking on www.criagslist.boston.com for some aparments/condo's. You will definitely be paying waaaay too much just for a studio.

GOOD LUCK!!!
