I'm moving to California next June, and was wondering what is the best city in Southern California to live at? I was going to move to Los Angeles until I heard how bad it was there. I was going to move to San Diego till I found out how expensive it was. I'm going there to start my music and acting career in Show Business. I want to go and spend my next holiday in the Philippines, i'm from Mexico, i was told the Philippines is the most occidental country of Asia and also one of the cheapest countries in the world, a must for shopping because of the great deals, i want to know if someone of you could give me reference prices just to check my budget, i mean food, accomodation, entertainment, transporation, clothes etc, and also i want to know how's the life style in manila and how much it costs to rent an apartment in a residential area.

My husband is a truck driver who crosses the border into the US daily...my problem is that I need ideas for what he can pack to eat for a week at a time when he can't take meat, dairy or produce across the line.
We have been racking our brains & other than chips, canned soups & junk food we can't think of much else. And we don't want to expense ourselves to death by going to restaurants. He has a fridge & toaster oven in his truck so he can keep things cold if needed.
Any suggestions?
