My husband is a truck driver who crosses the border into the US daily...my problem is that I need ideas for what he can pack to eat for a week at a time when he can't take meat, dairy or produce across the line.
We have been racking our brains & other than chips, canned soups & junk food we can't think of much else. And we don't want to expense ourselves to death by going to restaurants. He has a fridge & toaster oven in his truck so he can keep things cold if needed.
Any suggestions?

Tuna, canned chicken.. (for tuna or chicken salad) he can keep mayo in the fridge and mix it up when he stops.

What about things like Canned Beef stew or chili? Anything in a can that can be heated. It can be warmed by placing a shatter proof dish on top of the toaster oven for a few minutes. Bread, Peanut Butter and Jelly.
Macaroni and cheese... Just make sure it is the kind that has liquid cheese, so no milk is needed. Or, if need be.. Cook the noodles before he leaves. They will stay good in the fridge for a few days. For the cheese, a can of cheese soup (if that is allowed)
.
Trail Mix.. still junk food, but better than chips. Are dried fruits allowed? Could get some packs of that. Beef Jerky?
Sorry, I have no idea what is allowed and isn't. Jut some ideas.
That is all I have. It is hard to come up with anything homemade without having meat, fruits or vegetables

Good luck!

Can he take tinned meat such as tuna or spam? They make some nice dehydrated meals that you can buy at camping stores that you just add hot water and eat that taste quite good. Boxed Mac and Cheese travels well too.

Perhaps he can ask around at some of the truck stops and other driving friends if they have suggestions too.
