What can be done to Reduce the population in the Rhine and Danube Rivers, in Europe?

Lots of pollituion enters these rivers becasue they are among Europe's major industrial cities.

Actually, to the best of my knowledge, neither of these rivers is particularly densely populated.

I think you've answered your own question: the population IN the rivers (ie of fish) is reduced by the pollution.

Fidget - the population of algae and so forth is usually increased by pollution (such as agricultural run-off). Why do only fish have the vote ehhh
