Why would you want to take Amtrak?

M60 bus to 120th st. catch the subway to 96th. That'll take you pretty close to Madison Ave. Madison Square Garden isn't even close to 95th. That's around 36th.

No. Madison Square Garden is nowhere near 95th Street. And I'm not sure Amtrak goes anywhere near LaGuardia.

The M60 bus runs from LaGuardia into the city. I would take it to the Columbia University stop at 116th and Broadway. Two feet from the bus stop is a subway station (it's the #1 train) and you take that in a downtown direction to the 34th Street/Penn Station stop. Madison Square Garden is right next to Penn Station. This is quick and cheap; just don't bring much luggage, because it's a drag to wrestle with luggage on the subway stairs. It's a double drag to wrestle luggage on stairs while wearing high heels, so choose your footwear with the subway in mind.
