Hi, does anyone know whether it would be wiser to take Sri Lankan rupees or US dollars to spend in Sri Lanka? We have had conflicting opinions on this! Thanks.

I'm going for a weeks holiday in Sharm el Sheik, Egypt later this month. We're looking at 5* All Inclusive deals and there is too many hotels to choose from!
They all look lovely, and all have good reviews.
Has anyone out there been to a really good one recently?

Does anyone else here finds the heightened security measures a hassle? Don't get me wrong, I understand it is required for safety, but all that's going on, it is quite troublesome to fly now.

I've been looking forward to my trip to UK in Oct, but looks like i have to drop it now .Too much uncertainty at the moment, and I don't think it will get any better, at least for the next 8 mths,maybe.....

to all those who still need to fly to/out from UK, hang in there.

To people living in Japan:
This is a silly question, but I am really curious... You must have noticed that the Japanese bento almost always has a red/reddish pickled plum (umeboshi) on top of the (white) rice. Is that supposed to look like the hinomaru? I just saw a cooking program on a Japanese channel and the reporter made a comment that suggested this.

If yes, which countries?

and what is the most impressive stuff you saw or
what is your most interesting experience?
My question's point is about culture shock.

For example, I have been to Japan.
I bought a ticket, and after I got my ticket, the lady STOOD UP and BOWED. WOW! she was so polite. and almost every store in Japan was the same polite attitude.

Another is that they like to use bikes as their transportation tool and take subway.

This is my experience.
What about yours!!

Most of us grew up in the era when Afrikaans was the language of the oppressor and had a very bad vibe to it, especially for those who were not Afrikaans-speaking. Do you think the language is recovering?
