no, its not a disadvantage .... English is the 2nd language here in Dubai almost every one can speak or understand English even my grand mother can understand it ... lol

There are No Disadvantages ..In Dubai Everyone Speaks English ..English is The Official Language There...

Hi I have just come bak from Dubai and have been thre over the last 8 years. Firstly you will find it hard to find an Arab apart from the airport which is amazing. All the labour is done by Indians from South India who are the most frenliest people you will meet. In my hotel Jumeirah Beach their were 56 different nationalities working there a wonderful coutry !!! we even went skiing in ski Dubai!! Have fun....

no disadvantage at all..........being that most of the people working there are not arab either. a lot of people from india there, that is for sure. you will find that most everyone knows some english, and if the one you are talking to doesnt, then the next person you encounter will. its a very very diverse place,people from all over this planet. its the most diverse place i have ever seen actaully, and i have been all over the place.
everyone finds something to love about dubai!
check out the new indoor ski run they built there.........looks awesome!

No disadvantage at all. Nearly all people understand english, with most being able to converse well. If the first person you talk to doesn't know, the person behind him will.

the only disadvantage u will face is that when ever u will visit goverment offices for any type of work they dont speak english well and also they dont understand well and for lower class work u need to learn malayalam coz in lower class u will find majority of malayam speaking person its good not 2 talk them in english coz when they start there english u will feeel like to jump from emirates tower
i swear they are more dangerous than nuclear bomb when they speak english

Most of the population is South Asian. If you learn Hindi/Urdu phrases you will be well equipped. No where you will find Arabs running business and theirs is not proper arabic.
Even if you learn original Arabic you will not understand the locals.
English is widely spoken so you are not lost.

Most people speak English. The people that don't speak English don't speak Arabic either.
