The flight patterns over the U.S. are designed to bring the intn'l flights into the largest airports, with facilities to handle the big 747's. They are: NYC - Kennedy, Los Angeles- LAX, and Chicago. Once on U.S. soil, the smaller planes fly the routes between the major hubs, and to the non-hub airports.

The likelihood of finding an international flight direct to Nashville is slim to none. As Nashville is not an intern'l hub, or a hub for any major airline.

I believe your best option is an intn'l flight to LAX, then a flight from LAX to Nashville.

As for which airline to fly ... it really depends on your parameters. If you want to fly the cheapest, or with the fewest connecting flights.

You can either book your flights with a travel agent, and let them deal with the headaches of creating the best itinerary for your needs, or you can log on to the major travel sites like: Travelocity, Orbitz, etc... or any of the individual international carriers like United, or a Singapore international carrier.

Although it would be nice to get on an internationally bound plane and land right where you want to be, it would be a scheduling nightmare for the airlines. And, the cost of the tickets would skyrocket, because the plane from Singapore to Nashville would not be full. Yet, the airline would still have to use a big plane to carry the necessary fuel to cross the pacific. See?

I've flown to Nashville 6 times in the last few years.

I take the non-stop flight to Newark on Singapore Airline. And catch Continental Airlines direct to Nashville. I find this is the most direct and fastest way to Nashville.

Here is a summary of my flight details:

SQ 22 Depart = 11:10 Arrive = 17:50
CO 2613 Depart = 19:05 Arrive = 20:46

For your return leg you can fly:

CO 2567 Depart = 16:35 Arrive = 20:08
SQ 21 Depart = 23:00 Arrive = 05:40 (+2)

It's just a few thousand miles to far to be a direct flight, also not enough people go from Nashville to S'pore anymore to even make it a Double stop flight.

From San Francisco or LA I would recommend trying to get the cheapest flight on any of the following Korean Air, China Air, JAL or Quantas Through Sydney Australia..
or from the east coast you can try from Miiami, through Cairo, Egypt Air, Rome, Air Italia, anyway you get the Idea, shop 3 or 4 tour agencys to do it. It takes time but it can save you about $500 to $1,000 per trip if your smart about it..
The American Airlines as a whole just cost to much, try the others on Round Trip or make a third stop in one of their cites for 3 to 5 days and watch your fare drop.. HAPPY HOLLIDAYS,,,

The airport in Nashville isnt a large one, or it may seem large to you but thr runways might not be able to handle the large aircrafts that are needed to go overseas. Aircrafts have a capacity in which they can fly becasuse of the weight and balance issue with the fuel. Major airports such as o hare or Los Angeles might have the direct route to the destination you are seeking. For example you are going to have to fly to Chicago then singapore because your local airport doesnt have the aircrafts to make the trip to singapore.

You need a least 2 connections. Singapore is only directly connected with Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, and Seattle.
