I am 21 and have been driving since I was 18 in the UK but I am contemplating hiring a car out in the US in 3 weeks time but I am scared about how the road signs etc are in the US. Any tips for me to take into account?

Hi, I've been researching places to live in North Carolina. Our family is from south Florida, we want a place near the Western mountains, but not IN them. We also want to be near Charlotte. Is Concord a good 'family' town? Are there still some mountains nearby (within 2 hours or so). Anyone live there or been there before?
