Midge, relax darlin', Just remember, all the guards are there for your safety. Yes, it is a bit unnerving, but unfortunately these days a needed thing. I know nothing about Sharm but am beginning to think that it may have to be on my list after seing Cairo and Luxor and a cruise up the Nile that I have planned in October.
If you need to ask 1000 questions to ease your mind then do it. God knows I have in the past when it was somewhere I either wasn't familiar with or something had happened to make me question why I wanted to go. I always ended up going and was glad I did.
No one with any compassion is going to fault you for it. Like I said before, don't them win by making you so scared that you don't want to do anything or go anywhere. I am confident you will have a great time.

Listen, forget what you hear in the media. Egypt is perfectly safe, particularly Sharm El Sheikh. I was scared a few years ago by what I have been reading and watching on tv about the middle east but Egypt - Sharm is far away from all the trouble. I visit Sharm at least twice a year and I never faced or heard of any security related problem.
Go 4 it, Sharm is heaven on earth and again, there is nothing to worry about, you are gonna thank me later.
Enjoy Egypt

I've been there 3 times. I've never felt safer anywhere. It has a miltary airport so the security is tighter than any normal airport.
All the hotels have compounds and armed guards. There are army along all the roads there so it's quite safe.
I'd go back today.
It's lovely, enjoy yourself and don't worry.

I was in Taba on the Israeli border a month ago. It was very safe, loads of checkpoints, mirrors under vehicles the whole caboodle, just go and enjoy, the diving there is amazing.

My brother in law goes there twice a year for the diving. He loves it. He flies out of Germany, so I think it would be about the same. He says it's great there. Enjoy.
