I want an acurate caliber for a white tail. I want it to be big enough to kill it 1st or 2nd shot. I will make shots anywhere from 50-400 yds so i would need a pretty powerfull and long range round.

I am getting ready to move to Wisconsin. Is the Deer Hunting a draw type system, or can I buy tags across the counter and hunt any where, and is there a lot of public land? Where I live now, in Nevada, we have to apply for a specific area and a specific type of hunt, archery, rifle, muzzel loader ect..

Wow, anyone else notice how on practically any firearm or hunting forum there are people who throw as much terrible wrong information out there as possible? I also find that a lot of the time within a question there are debates about factual information, these debates are actually presented as if they were nothing but opinions, as if both individuals can be right. I'm not bashing the Yahoo "ask." anymore than any other forum, so please don't take offence, this is just a rant that you unfortunates had to be a part of.

We must convince reasonable people...gun owners and non-gun owners alike....that a loss of rights to any among us is a loss for all. "Gun control" is a corrosive affront to civil rights.

I get so tired of these anti's talking about "hunters" killing for sport.
I do not know one person I would call a "hunter" that hunts just for sport. Don't get me wrong I love to hunt, but I eat what I kill.
My family and I live on what I kill hunting.

5 days ago I got a deer. It's been dressed, skinned, and quartered. The meat has been hanging for 5 days at 33 degrees. There is some loose hair on the muscle, and the outside surfaces of all the quarters are hard and leathery. I have several summer sausage kits from Cabela's.

Do I put all this in the grinder or do I sort of shave off the leathery hairy portions of the meat first?
