Yes, and you don't need 1200 fps.
Air rifles that prduce 800 fps can kill a coon.
Ask the real air gun hunters:

And yes, the guy holding the gun is holding
a air rifle, and yes, he did drop that animal
with that gun.

First, please note that you only get 1200 fps with PBA ammo. PBA ammo is much lighter, so it will travel faster. But it also decreases the power. Lead pellets are heavier, therefore they travel slower. Expect to get 900 to 1000 fps with lead pellets. Anyway, you can take pigeons, crows, mice, rats, squirrels, rabbits and chipmunks. That's about it. Oh, and just a warning, because a lot of people ask this kind of question. Don't try to shoot possum or raccoon. They're just too tough to be taken down. I say this because a lot of people don't know how tough these animals are.

Yes, if the pellet is properly place in the head and your range does not exceed 10 yards. This is the only way to ensure a clean, humane kill.

As others said, with good shot placement. But it's not necessarily the right thing to do, you stand a reasonable chance of having a woonded animal crawling around the place.

You probably could but I know they are tough little boogers!
I use to trap them when I was 13 and I would shoot them with a .22 and sometimes they would go down on the 1st shot and sometimes they would go down on the 3rd. Its all where you hit them. If your plaining on saving or tanning the hide you would probably want to use a .22 and shoot them right in the ear. Or if you trap them in a live trap or something you can drowned them..

Most certainly. When I was younger,I shot a rabbit with a bb gun and it killed it like it was a .22.

It's all about shot placement.
