Hunting - December 2006

Hello everyone-

As I said, I am brand new to guns. I'm 21 and I grew up in a family where no one owned or shot. I've shot a Glock 9mm a few times with a buddy of mine, but that's it for my handgun experience.

I've decided that I definitely want a Springfield XD, preferrably Bi-tone. The Bi-tones just look too dang sweet to pass up, I think. I know this is kind of a stupid question to ask, since everyone has their own preferences. Plus I know some people will tell me to try them out for myself (which I will).

With all that said, what model do you all recommend for a beginner like me, and should I go for a ported?

where is the best place to get a bb gun?

most importantly, do u know any good games u can play outdoors, if so list it and if u know a website that has rules and info please list it.

Also, is playing manhunt with bb guns in a neighborhood(backyards, roads, sidewalks,etc) ILLEGAL?

Just bought a BB gun that has a 449fps velocity. Lets say someone was trying to rob my house, and I shot them at about 3-4 feet away in the face, neck or arm. Would that be enough pain for them to lay down?

Apparently you can't buy a pellet pistol in stores at NY (you can by BB ones). So I looked online, but every site says they can not ship pellet guns to NY.

Can I drive to PA (where anythings legal...) and bring a pellet gun over to NY?

You can be specific as to the model (Example: Winchester 94 in 30-30), but it's fine if you just say the type and caliber (Example: .357 revolver). Any gun you want with any accesories, price is no issue, but it has to be an actual smallarm (Example: handgun, machine pistol, assualt rifle, hunting/precision rifle, or shotgun). In this scenario, you are alone and don't know what to expect. You have practically limitless ammunition.

Just curious! Think about versatility and portability! This is for all you gun buffs out there!

I would like to kill a mole at very close range. I was hoping to find a very small bullet. Does anyone know of a bullet that is smaller than .22 caliber? (I've seen the 4.6x30mm HK, those are more powerful than the .22) I want something wimpier.

I've been doing trigger jobs on guns for years (30+). When I tell my buds to dry fire one and feel the difference, many question if it is OK. It has been mentioned frequently in periodicals that the mechanism can be damaged, but I have never been able to detect any truth to it. What gives?

I've been shooting the 10mm for about 13 years now. I've noticed its a cartridge that people either love it or they hate it. Its recoil is no worse then a .45 ACP so it does'nt beat you up and is accurate enough to use in competition So far I've put around 11,000 rds through mine with no problems. I would like to hear what others think.

im ma red neck and i go coon huntin(raccoon) all the time . weekends and weekdays all nighet and im too tierd in the mornins to get up and go to school but i do anyway . i use bluetick hounds and i love my life but people @my school think im crazy cause they dont know any girl who goes . is that wrong and does any one but me go coon huntin?????????????
