From current NHL rosters, pick 3 forwards, 2 defensmen, and 1 goalie who you consider to be the biggest 'jerks': less than likeable, dirty, cheapshot, or unsportsmanlike. Have fun...but don't just pick players from one team you dont like.

I'm new - forgive me if this has been asked already.
At the end of the year we could vote on our 'All Jerk' team and send them trophies. ;)

Rumors have been swirling lately about a possible trade between the Dallas Stars and Tampa Bay Lightning that would include Martin St. Louis for Marty Turco and either Trevor Daley or Mike Ribero. Severall sources (TSN being one) have stated that conversations have taken place.

Who would get the better of this deal? Is it a smart move by the Lightning? The Stars?

And were the Victoria Cougars also the predecessors of the Detroit Cougars/Falcons/Red Wings?

I never knew that until I read about it a few hours ago. I always thought the Chicago and Detroit franchises were new ventures that were started from scratch in 1926.

I saw that you brought up Eddie Shack earlier... Is it true or not that he couldn't read?

Okay, I've heard/read legends that contradict that speculation:
- When Shack played for the Leafs, Jack Adams said he couldn't read. So Shack scored on Detroit, skated by Detroit's bench, and said 'Hey Jack: G-O-A-L".
- When Shack played for the Pens, the coach would write practice times on a blackboard. "No practice tomorrow" was written once, and Shack was the only player to show up on that day.

Of course there has always been violence in the NHL but it seems to have peaks and valleys. For example, the '70s were quite violent but the '80s were more about skating and scoring. A few notable incidents aside, the '90s had lots of clutching and grabbing but it doesn't seem like there was as much vicious stickwork as there is in today's game. What do you think?

Wow, today I went with a large Starbuck's iced coffee (it 82/28 F/C degrees right now) and I feel like streaking across town.......probably not a good idea.

I hate to bring up a very bad time in our lives, but during the lock-out we had to deal with it in our own ways. I became obsessed with that Deadliest Catch show, "tried" to get into football (by gambling), went to amateur league hockey games, and spent much time reading about hockey/stats/players.

What did you do during the lock-out to keep yourself occupied?

Keep in mind: I need a good laugh.

You are the general manager of a NHL franchise. On your roster you have a veteran player who has done all that has been asked of him throughout his career. However, he has been scratched for a handful of games this season, and has lost a step or two. On top of that, he's not producing and you have a youngster down in the AHL who can be as much or even more productive at the NHL level than your underproductive vet. Do you keep the vet on the roster because of what he has meant to your team, or do you show him the door in favor of the youngster? What would you do?
