Wow, today I went with a large Starbuck's iced coffee (it 82/28 F/C degrees right now) and I feel like streaking across town.......probably not a good idea.

I hate to bring up a very bad time in our lives, but during the lock-out we had to deal with it in our own ways. I became obsessed with that Deadliest Catch show, "tried" to get into football (by gambling), went to amateur league hockey games, and spent much time reading about hockey/stats/players.

What did you do during the lock-out to keep yourself occupied?

Keep in mind: I need a good laugh.

2eighty8: We seem to have the same taste in TV. We are like couch potatoes soul mates. Lol.
ripper: lmao. Down in the south, the hicks around here say “my ol’ lady”
Joe: You make me out to be Mother Teresa. I just watch my mouth (typing) around kids. Joe it is funny you say that, I did have to wear my sunglasses to work today. I drive east in the morning and west at night. That is the cool this about Florida. In one day (5-6 hours drive from one side to the other), you can watch the sunrise and the sunset on the ocean.
LITY: I thought you retired in 1996. BTW, do you need a Kleenex?
No_Dirt: Hwy 41 keeps many men busy. Sounds like you had a really hard time.
Laying Low: I never bet on college football. My dad used to play college ball, and I spent so much time around it as a kid, that I have become Anti-College football (Notre Dame, being an exception)(Don’t ask).

Andrew: Sounds like work. I am one of those lucky, eat like crap, but look the same people. My doctor is not impressed, because I have high cholesterol. I can’t help it; I like bacon cheeseburgers.
CME: I never know. I assumed that the court papers would hsve actually been Court ordered anti-harassment classes. ;)
PuckDat: You are better than that. This question was a gimmie, given on a silver platter.
Kidm: In Florida. I just wait for the re-runs, because they start right after hockey season is over.
DY: That does sound very boring. Thanks for busting by chops for being nice to a 13 year old, earlier. You will never see me tell a kid, they suck.
Bob: lmao. I learned a lot about my boyfriend that year, also. I’d say things like, “Have you always had that mole?” He’d say, “Since birth”. Hmmm.
Vinny: I am glad you made the switch back. Basketball makes you “stupider”. Tee, hee.

I spent a lot of time online following the European leagues and the NHLers playing over there. Pretty pathetic actually. I am a bit guilty to admit that.

Probably drank a lot of coffee. By the way!---how DO you take your coffee, Haley? Cream and no sugar is best for me. Though I'm on my fourth cup right now and I've been using this "Limited Time Only" kind-of-deal Pumpkin Spice creamer. Yummm.

Anyway, besides being busy with school and life in general, I was definitely into football during the lockout, but I'm in Steel City (Pittsburgh). It's practically state law to be a Steelers fan! It was Ben Roethlisberger's rookie season. The team went 14-1, including the playoffs, so it was exciting. EDIT: 14-1 WITH BEN, I meant! My bad!

I had virtually no hockey... The most hockey I got was virtual, actually. Love hockey video games. I wish the Pens' AHL affiliate team's home wasn't so far away. Okay, Pittsburgh is the far LEFT RED DOT on this map, and Scranton is the far RIGHT RED DOT: http://www.mapsofworld.com/usa/states/pennsylvania/maps/pennsylvania-golf-courses.jpg

1) People are jumping on the bandwagon. 2) They are more annoying. There were these ladies I saw once, probably in their 40s, who know where all the Devils live...Kind of frightening. The older they get, the better the puckbunny tactics...And scarier. 3) The Coyotes. They have nobody interesting on their team. 4) If they fell asleep, I would wake them up. If the jumbotron zoomed in on them, then I wouldn't. That's what they get for falling asleep at the greatest game on earth!! 5) Trade it in. 6) I'd sneak into the locker room. ADD: 2/23 - I was in a bakery in NYC today and this guy working there honestly looked like Bill Guerin!!! 7) Other than 99, nope. 8) Well, I'd move at first, but if he keeps bringing me those beers, I'd probably stop noticing the spit!

The real question is: Would you bring some "Holiday Cheer" to people if you streaked across town?

Okay, things I did during the Lock-out. Well, sports related, I watched the Pistons, since they won the title the year before and went on a run before collapsing in Game 7 of the NBA Finals against San Antonio.

I was also a senoir in high school that year and we had a musical that year. I was the male lead that year so that kept me busy (and tired) for about 2-3 months (I think it was closer to the 2 side). Oh, and the musical was Cinderella (so you can figure out which character I was). I was paired up with a girl that was at least a foot shorter than I was (poor girl; I said so many short jokes; I may have even mentioned that she might not have been tall enough to ride in a car without a booster seat).

Plus, I started doing some minor composing of music. As a matter of fact, I took one of my trombone pieces to a festival and received some pretty good revues and some pointers for future pieces.

Actually I watched a boatload of NBA. I discovered basketball and hopped on the budding Denver Nuggets bandwagon, Melo was in his 2nd year I think and he was playing lights out. Last year with the addition of Allen Iverson (my 3rd fav player BEFORE we got him), Basketball became my 2nd favorite sport. I'm still a huge fan of the Nuggets, but of course, I would rather see the Avs score 1 goal than the Nuggets win 5 games. That's how much more I love hockey and the Avs. It was a much more boring year I must say.

It's around 30 F in Denver right now and it's gonna snow over the weekend! HELL YEAH! I love snow.

During the 2004-05 Lockout...

I fell madly in love with a wonderful woman, only to break her heart. I spent the bulk of the year in self-destruct mode. I had a torrid affair with a co-worker which ended badly. I discovered college basketball. I moved into my first apartment. I ate like a cow. I discovered chili dogs and chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. I learned to cook. I got the love of my life back (only to lose her again early this year, and it doesn't look like there will be a chance to get her back). The lesson kids: love's a motherf*cker!

All the drama I went through that year more than made up for the absence of NHL hockey.

I discovered WOW and spent time playing that. I also worked on getting some extra certifications for my job. Signed every petition I could find to have the government or someone take the Stanley Cup away from the league and make sure it was awarded.

Sorry, not funny I know, but maybe the elf has something.

I spent time as a driving instructor trying to get that feeling you get during overtime. That came close a few times. Had to change my underwear frequently though.
I compiled a video record of all the greatest players in Senators history, it lasts 37 seconds including opening and closing credits.
I went to seedy bars around midnight and sat anxiously waiting for a fight to break out. Finally settled on a sure fire method of stealing one drunk's beer and then pointing him in the direction of another drunk with an accusatory finger.

That better?

Did you know that births in Canada rose significantly in the summer and fall months following the lockout? Yup. Bet you didn't know Grapes was a method of birth control?

Watched the ECHL Las Vegas Wranglers, who incidentally had their worst season in the team's limited existence. Bet on college football ( I win by betting against the Army football team. They cost me 1,500 bucks on a parlay card back when I was 12 when they fumbled on BC's 2-yard line, and I was at the game @ West Point. I have never forgiven them. Hey, I was 12!)). I digressed... My son was only two, so I was still having sleepless nights, changing diapers, and all that fun stuff.

Where is 28 degrees today? Here it is -4 and it is threatening to snow. But I guess I can't ***** because I live in Canada now.

Like you I got involved with deadliest catch, and now am a religious follower of Mike Rowe with dirty jobs and deadliest catch. thank god for PVR now, I can record it whilst I am watching hockey.
Also my first child was born that summer so I was a bit occupied with her.

Didn't do much, took it pretty well, actually. A lot better than the court papers would lead you to believe. A few of the victims can even return to normal lives with a bit of rehab. I took a course to improve my driving. With fewer survivors, I had less and less lawsuits as time went by, so overall, it had a positive effect.

I was a first year college grad and my newly wed wife just took a teaching job in NE Pennsylvania. Since the job market sucked I took a job, mainly retail with an AHL team. I attended many games. I also ate whatever I wanted, drank alot of beer and was very inactive. Before I knew it, the scale tried to lie to me. Soon after the Lockout ended and I got a real job, I moved, watched what I ate, became a cardio machine and got back down to my high school playing weight. So I am blaming the lockout for being fat and lazy, thanks Gary
