I watched the first 2 and a half periods of this game and the Kings dominated on more than just the scoresheet too. They really manhandled them physically. As far as the score, it could have been much, much worse, at one point when it was 7-0, I thought it could have been 12-0 with all the odd man breaks, SH breakaways that the Kings DIDN'T capitalize on.
The Kings did not let up either. The Sabres can thank themselves for this, they ran up scores on some teams over the last couple of years, including a 9-1 drubbing of the Kings last time they met, which they remembered, in fact, Cammaleri even mentioned it in a bench interview during the 2nd period.
I was really impressed with the Kings physicality though.

My other thought was who was in nets for the Kings, do you know without looking it up? Quick. Find that answer.

Yeah, kind of. I thought the Sabres were a deep team and that they would need a good part of the season to find their new identity. A thumping like this can be expected but it isn't the end of the world. I think it is too early to expect fireworks from any team that has gone through an offseason like they had. Give them time.

Saw the game last night too. It might have been expected after losing to the Ducks the night before, but not that badly. The Sabres looked totally lifeless. Their schedule doesn't get easier this month either, as they have 3 more sets of B2B games, as well as 3 games in four days every week this month.

Well, I don't know about 8-2; that certainly was a surprise to me. I wasn't following, but I think the Sabres did have a good run recently due to the sudden jump of bandwagoners posting on this forum...and have disappeared again.

I didn't necessarily think the Sabres would win, but I didn't expect them to get manhandled that way. But Benny P brought up an interesting thought in another post, that he wasn't expecting them to win 2 of 3 west coast games, its a bit different than what we've seen so far. What really killed me was that Thibault started, that's a death sentence. Miller didn't stand a chance going in 4-0, he clearly let's it get to him more than the average Joe does, but one good game for Thibault does not a new starter make.

Before the game, no I did not. I thought that they would come out angry with their effort the night before and play well.

I saw it coming when I realized that T-Bo wasn't having a good game(which was pretty early on. He was unsure of himself throughout the first period) and the Sabres where continuing where they finished the previous game. I don't like bad efforts like that, but it happens during an 82 game schedule. Hopefully Ruff will get them going.

I think LA is an explosive team. They are a bit streaky that way. But no, it does not surprise me one bit to see the Sabres struggling. They were always a team playing above expectations before Briere and Drury skated out of town. Now, the truest form of the team has been exposed. They aren't a well-balanced squad and they have just one legitimate star (Miller, and he has yet to "win that game" for them).

The Sabres first trip to Cali since November 2003 - give them a break eh?

Lay off the Sabres, you would think it was a vacation also if you were to go to So Cal from Buffalo in December. Let them enjoy the weather.
