When I was a kid we had two thermometers. One for the mouth and one for the butt. Whenever I was sick, my brothers would always hide the one for the mouth. My mom would go in the medicine cabinet and say, "Sorry sweetie, but it I can't find the mouth thermometer, so were going to have to use the other one."
Needless to say, I went to school sick, A LOT.

I agree, 13 sounds somewhat previous to need a rectal temp examine. till there's a issue (like coughing too a lot to get solid studying)merely take it orally (or with between the digital ear/temporal thermometers)--should be a lot precise--i do not even take my 4-year previous's temp rectally anymore. and that i can not in all likelihood imagine why oral fever-decreasing drugs should not be completely high-quality for a teenager too (merely see you later because it is not aspirin). BTW, your son is fairly previous sufficient to leave the pediatrician at this aspect too, and depending on that health practitioner's suggestion, i in my opinion would attempt this if it were my son.

Anyway, I'm the one who takes the temperature around here. Now bend over and put your face in the pillow.... this might sting a bit.

I shoulda had my temp taken yesturday during the Pens last two games, I think my stress levels would of blown out the thermometer....they were awesome!!!

To answer your ?, ummm no. I have a sick 17 month old child here and I have had more than my fair share of taking temps this week.
