There's an NHL commercial on right now that mentions "Is this the year we start taping our sticks like Staal" (Eric). What does he do differently?

Eric Staal tapes the entire blade of his stick...most players only tape the center part. Next time you see that ad, watch close as they show Staal pointing his stick after that comment is said. You can see the tape all the way to the end of the blade.

The idea behind it is to not take it literally. What the quote means is that will this be the year that kids start following Staal and wanting to be like him.
