If you know me, then you should already know what that is.

Bob-- That's what Dom does. He excites the fans. And the announcers are fans too. They got excited. Dom hasn't done that in a while. Ken Daniels and Mickey Redmond aren't morons.

I'm sure your announcers would of done the same thing.

I can't believe anyone would think that isn't a penalty. Touching the puck or not doesn't matter when you make a clear effort to cut a player's legs out from under him. And since he was on a clear breakaway, it could have been a penalty shot. If the player who had done that had been a defenseman, most of you would change your tune and for those that don't; there aren't special exemptions for goalies. Hasek was reckless and he could have hurt Gaborik seriously. The league may not be done with this.
I used to have a defense partner waaaaaaaay back who would suddenly duck down and go for a player's legs while playing the puck and most times he did it he ended up in the box so the call isn't part of the new NHL rules either. This play was a clear penalty in any era of any game.
What I'd like to know is why Minnesota didn't go out after Hasek after that. Goalie or not, he tried to take out the Wild's best player and as a coach, I'd have sent wave after wave after him until I felt we had extracted our pound of flesh.
I know if I'd have been on the ice for Minnesota, Hasek would have been under a flying knee within seconds of it happening. You have to protect your best player no matter what. And what Hasek did should have been punished, if all he got was a penalty he got off cheap.

Thats Hockey, why is everybody crying Hasek came out to make a play and he made a good one. You think Hasek wanted to hurt the player? hell no. He tried to stop a goal and and did a good job of it. The kids who think this is a penalty have not been watching hockey long enough to see what a real penalty looks like.

Hasek had a crazy night all around. A shutout, this thing with Gaborik, and he left the net and went to the bench during a delayed penalty against the Wings. Perhaps too much coffee before the game?

I wish I had been watching that game. IMHO Hasek deserved the penalty since he went down and went feet first. If he had just got his stick in there or stood up for the hit it wouldn't have been a penalty. Gaborik should have been awarded a penalty shot because Hasek clearly impeded a scoring chance. That said it was also a good penalty to take at the moment.
As an addendum: I have always felt that if the goalie moves more than ten feet from the crease he should be fair game.

Quit all the crying, its a penalty. I am a Detroit fan, and I knew he was getting a tripping call. If Gaborik had his head up, Hasek would have never came out like that. If he did, all Gaborik would have to do, is pull it to the backhand, and make Hasek look like a fool. So quit all the whining, about suspensions. Its a tough game, and probably one, that you whiny babies cant play yourselves.

I would have given him a tripping call as well. Goalies just can be THAT aggressively, especially on a breakaway. Even if he had his head down, Hasek deliberately tripped him on a breakaway. I might have even given him a penalty shot. The play was Gaborik and the goalie, and Hasek came much to far out. I could understand Hasek making a legal play if Gaborik DIDN'T have control of the puck, but it was right on his stick.

That was the right call in that situation.

I've seen that play dozens of times, and it has always been a penalty.

Had Hasek used his stick, (instead of splaying out the opposite side of gaborik), a penalty call would not have been made.

Gaborik saw him coming though, and he has more than enough skill to evade Hasek...why didn't he?

wel lhard to say , why's dominator Hasek playing this far out ? usually you stays back when there is a breakaway like that. it look like a take out slide from baseball to me , i think they called it because it was a dangerous play. i think thats a by accidental tripping.

Gaborik has a target on him! he is a really fast skater and great shooter and he has no fear about bustin through anything anywhere to take the puck to the net - no matter what. Other teams are all wanting to get him off the ice, he puts the fear into goalies because he can get the puck THERE and put it around them. Gaborik is awesome.
That was what that goalie was doing, it's so obvious to me, because I've been watching Gaborik's plays!

What was that, the second coming of D-train to the Motor City this week? Not a tripping penalty, either. Looked like a perfectly good play, if you ask me, gotta know it sucks to be the guy going head over heels.
