Or on cracking jokes on somebody like Alex Rodriguez? It's like why do they defend him? Is he paying their bills or something? Is he putting food on their plates? Is he buying them clothes to wear? I don't get it.

I believe that the Chicago White Sox are the greatest team in Major League Baseball. After all, they are managed by a great manager Guillen, they have great players including Boone Logan and Joe Crede, and they are the 2005 American League and World Series Champions.

Why are the Chicago White Sox the greatest team in baseball?

my opinion, I like it

I would like the first person that answers just put "i love it", nothing else, then people would thumb up or down depending on their opinion. Aditionally other people would answer...duh...

Bourne and Geary I do not mind them giving up so much. But Costanzo is a very good prospect and the phillies need a good third basemen and I think we could just keep Meyers as the closer.

Since there are so many retarded questions about this rookie who has done NOTHING yet, and is not going to be as good as everyone thinks. Let's put a REAL question up. I say Ellsbury has an average season of .285 w/ 10 HR and 40-50 RBIs. He'll steal 20-40 bases a couple times in his career, but he'll basically be a Coco Crisp, or Shannon Stewart clone. At best he will be platooning or doing the Juan Pierre thing.

Career stats: 15 years .277 BA 159 HR 688 RBI 900 Runs 316 SB and possibly a Gold Glove. The last 5 years of his career he'll be getting less than 400AB's a season and he'll fade away into nothingness.

Who out there thinks Ellsbury is WAYYYYYY overhyped and the Red Sux are in for a big letdown. There are tons of better young athletes out there like Yvonni Gallardo, Tim Lincecum, BJ Upton, and Evan Longoria to name just a few. Just because it's Boston people on jumping on the bandwagon that's bound to collapse.

Who else sees the obvious?

I bought my girlfriend one of those 3-D looking wooden replicas of Yankees stadium because she grew up in NY and used to be a die-hard fan. She has since become a little disappointed in the team and doesn't really follow them very closely. She even mentioned yesterday that she'd be embarassed to wear their jersey! UH OH!

Is my gift still good since it is a memoir of something that will soon be torn down? Or do you think it will just remind her of how much she wishes the Yankees were the same team they used to be?

Louisville Slugger announced their Silver Slugger Awards last night.

The 18 winners (career SS Awards):

American League
C - Jorge Posada, NYY (5)
1B - Carlos Pena, TAM (1)
2B - Placido Polanco, DET (1)
SS - Derek Jeter, NYY (2)
3B - Alex Rodriguez, NYY (9, 2nd at 3B)
OF1 - Ichiro Suzuki, SEA (2)
OF2 - Vladimir Guerrero, LAA (7)
OF3 - Magglio Ordonez, DET (3)
DH - David Ortiz, BOS (4)

National League
C - Russell Martin, LAD (1)
1B - Prince Fielder, MIL (1)
2B - Chase Utley, PHIL (2)
SS - Jimmy Rollins, PHIL (1)
3B - David Wright, NYM (1)
OF1 - Carlos Beltran, NYM (2)
OF2 - Matt Holliday, COL (2)
OF3 - Carlos Lee, HOU (2)
P - Micah Owings, ARZ (1)

Brief comments:
AL 2B -- purely by stats, Carlos Guillen was the best choice, but Jeter is still good, and carries much more rep.

AL 1B -- brilliant choice. Overlooked in Tampa.

NL SS -- different electorate, but I predict Rollins for NL MVP. (Don't care if I'm wrong.)

NL P -- only real choice, so well done.

Next week, the big awards.

There is an Illinois woman suing the Cardinals and Busch Stadium because someone was able to get the scoreboard operator to display a text message, during a game, that her daughter had a sexually transmitted disease.

While tragic that this all happened and irresponsible for whomever was operating the text scoreboard to allow that message to go "live", my question is this:

Roughly 45,000 MAY have seen this at that game. How many hundreds of thousands are reading about it in the newspapers across the Midwest and on MLB.com? Is this mother causing MORE damage to her daughter's life by dragging this out? Where should a parent draw that fine line?

Interesting moral dilemma, isn't it?

I resepct any baseball team who plays the game well and fair, like its supposed to be played.

Even though I don't particularly like the Yankees, I respect the team because they play baseball well. I've never said that they "suck" just because I don't like them, because its entirely untrue!

A team that I do like AND respect is the Cardinals. The players are great and I like Tony LaRussa's managing style.

So tell me, do you respect teams other than your own?

You guys are obviously great baseball fans and support the Cubs through everything, but it's gotta be tough to watch this team fail every season. How do you deal with that?
