Its because they want to fool people into thinking they're fans of big winners. When they realize that the Yankees haven't won a WS in the 21st century, yet, it makes them mad because they want something to brag about. Bandwagoners are notorious braggers.

Just think of how many bandwagoners the Red Sox aquired this year. The Rockies did when they were on their winning streak, as well. Bandwagoners come with playing well. The Yankees undoubtedly play very well, therefore pick up a lot of bandwagoners who want to put on an act, pretending like they have been Yankee fans from the very get go. Die hard Yankee fans know that their time will come and they're ready to support their team through the good and the bad.

I think it's because most of them don't know you yet. It never really bothered me at first, just seemed kind of weird, considering a lot of other teams haven't won since 2001 either. They actually haven't won because they have been outpitched by everyone they've played, and hopefully that will change.

As far as the "yankee bandwagon fans go", I always ask why people don't accuse Red Sox fans of being bandwagon-types. I realize that the Red Sox have millions of die-hard fans, but since 2004, they seem to have come out of the woodwork. I do not live in New England, and I never used to see hats with the old English "B" until the Red Sox finally won. Now they are all over the place. I am curious, why aren't Boston fans criticized for being bandwagon fans? They are worse than yankee fans.

This guy $C-NOTE$ who posted above me is a moron. The Yankees are the biggest bandwagon team in exsistance. How many NY hats are seen being worn by wanna bees and so called tough guys to so they can look the part. Plus, what kind of bandwagon goes 86 years without a championship? The SOX were selling out fenway even when they weren't winning...far from the case of the Yankee's fans of the early 90's who all but abandonded the team. But being a bandwagon Yankee fan he probably doesn't remember that far back! 7 years with no WS win is just the begining Yankee fans, they Yank-mees haven't got it through their heads yet that you can't buy a championship anymore.

Because die hard fans stick with their teams good, bad or indifferent. Most of the Yankees' bandwagon fans have been fans only since the 1990's, so they have seen the Yankees in post season every year. I've been a Yankees fan since around 1970, so I have seen the ups and downs on the team. So even though I want the Yankees to win the WS every year, I know it's not realistic, nor is it realistic to expect them to make it to the playoffs every year like they have in the last 13 years.

I am a Met fan, but I know many Yankee fans, both bandwagon and diehard. Some of the diehards can be very obnoxious, but they watch many (or most) or the games and know that it isn't easy to win all the time. They see the team's faults and can recognize why they lose.

But bandwagon fans usually just show up for October. They have a few numbers memorized. 26: Number of World Series Championships; 1918: Last time the Red Sox won the Worl --- oops, you can forget that one, haha. And they look forward to hanging out with friends, watching some of the playoffs and the World Series, maybe even going down to see the parade, telling everybody how WE won. And since they don't really watch the team, they can't understand why this isn't happening anymore.

Unfortunately, many bandwagon fans are basically losers, especially those who root for perennially winning teams. They become fans because they want to be associated with winners, and then when those teams lose these fans have nothing to show that they are winners, so it upsets them. This is not JUST the Yankees, but they are the best example. Die hards are used to the ups and downs, and don't need to be "validated" by rooting for a winning team, so they are more civil

Since the Yankees probably won't be world champs for a long time to come, these losers will need something else to latch onto.

Because the Yankees won in 2000, and most people acknowledge that the 21st century began in 2000, not 2001.

P.S. I HATE THE YANKEES! GO RED SOX 4-EVA!!!!

I don't know. I guess Tiger fans should be more upset that the Tigers haven't won since 1984. Keep hope alive, GP. I am not upset at all, as I find GP's questions, entertaining.

haha... great...

Its because bandwagon fans don't know squat about the game. I think they should go watch a football game or some other sport without class and grace and intelligency...

What a great century it is too huh?
