I bought my girlfriend one of those 3-D looking wooden replicas of Yankees stadium because she grew up in NY and used to be a die-hard fan. She has since become a little disappointed in the team and doesn't really follow them very closely. She even mentioned yesterday that she'd be embarassed to wear their jersey! UH OH!

Is my gift still good since it is a memoir of something that will soon be torn down? Or do you think it will just remind her of how much she wishes the Yankees were the same team they used to be?

here's the deal; if you're there when she opens it, or attach a note to it (like "here's to the good old days"), you can influence the way she views it. I think that's your best bet, since you already bought it. good luck!

Wow, you have a very hard problem, well you got her a gift, but you wouldn't know how she will re-act to you, one thing that you hope that she will not break up with you over this gift, and will even forgive you. And sometimes fans can get frusted with a team, but whether or not it was the right gift for a Yankee fan, or even an ex-Yankee fan, that is hard to say. But remeber what the Know-it-all kid told Hero Boy in the Polar Express, "it's the thought that counts". It can also depend on, some fans, some fans might want to remember Yankee Stadium this way, and some fans might even just want to say good-bye to the old Yankee Stadium, and say hello to the new Yankee Stadium. Just don't buy her a Yankees jersey, and you should be fine. Not that I am suggesting that you should buy her a New York Mets jersey, well you know your girlfriend better then I do. It could be that she might wish the Yankees used to be the way they were, and please don't feel offended to me, but it sounds like to me that your girlfriend has turned into a fair weather fan. And that could not be a good thing.

Since she isn't a fan of them these days, I doubt she will care much for the gift itself, but perhaps love the thought behind it.

I'm not sure, a Yankee fan would love it and think it was a sweet gift but it doesn't sound like she is a true fan anymore...Booo for that and Goooo Yankees!!!

YES!!! I WANT ONE!!! If anything it will help your friend remember the good times she had when she was in love w/ the Yankees. Those times will never go away.

Buy her a small, toy bandwagon.

If made in China, be sure it hasn't been recalled for lead, though bandwagoners find a lead very attractive.
