I resepct any baseball team who plays the game well and fair, like its supposed to be played.
Even though I don't particularly like the Yankees, I respect the team because they play baseball well. I've never said that they "suck" just because I don't like them, because its entirely untrue!
A team that I do like AND respect is the Cardinals. The players are great and I like Tony LaRussa's managing style.
So tell me, do you respect teams other than your own?

Whoever said that they've seen this question asked a bunch of times....
I've never seen it asked or come across it, so that's why I asked this question.
I hate it when people take MY questions and use them for their own, so I wouldn't do that to someone else.
I agree that this website should be about asking original questions & I try to do that.
At least I didn't ask "Where is A-Rod going?" Now THERE'S one that everyone undoubtedly sees 4 times a day.

I respect any professional franchise and the players that make up these franchises. The work and dedication it takes to reach that level demands respect. I look at my Yankees as just one of many teams that make up the major leagues. It's all about the competition. When teams reach this level there is a fine line between being the best and ending up in last place.
As much as I respect the game and the teams that make up the American and National leagues, there are certain individual players who do not deserve respect. These players have been documented throughout the last several seasons so we don't have to go into that.
There are too many people in this website that are either too immature to understand what a decent conversation about baseball means or they don't know the game well enough to talk intelligently about it.
What usually happens is that these people end up attacking you personally or just end up using the word "suck" to describe their hatred toward your team. What these people are trying to say is that they wish their team could have the same success as yours.
I have seriously thought about leaving this forum only because it is filled with people who have nothing to say. This is why my contact list is important to me. These are the people that I know will ask pertinent questions and give responsible answers.
People must earn their way onto my contact list as I must earn my way onto theirs. It's the only way to have decent conversations about baseball as well as all other sports.
I just blasted some "kid" for qualifing his question by first stating that he hated the Yankees. I got short with him as there was no sense to his statement. Instead of thinking it through and maybe realizing the error of his way, he attacked me. All I was doing was telling the truth.
As you may not like the Yankees at least you are respectful and contribute a lot to this forum. I like the Cardinals organization but have never been impressed with LaRussa or Scott Rolan.
I guess that means we can agree to disagree. After all, it's only a game.

Awesome question.
It's nice to see that there are people in the world that can get beyond the "Yankees Suck", or "Boston Sucks" chant, but I'll still stay out of section 39 in the Bronx.
I do respect most teams out there.
I have been a Red Sox and Patriots fan since I was a kid (30 years ago), but I respect teams like the Yankees, Steelers, Colts, Angels, and the list goes on, for the things that they stand for which is putting a competitive team on the field year after year.
There are a couple, I have to admit, that I do not respect. Mostly it is because of management. For example, The Devil Rays I have no respect for. The management is not doing anything with this team. They have reached the decade mark now and the best finish they had was 4th in the AL East once and 21 under 500. They have been in dead last every other year. The management does not understand that they have to invest in payroll. They are upping their payroll to the mid 30's next year after spending 24 million this year.
I also don't respect the Raiders like I used to. Same issue. Al Davis is beyond his useful years with the team. It is encouraging where they are heading, but since their last Superbowl they have done nothing. They needed a kicker, so they blew a first round pick on a kicker (troubled kicker no less) - brilliant. Nice move Al. Another thing that they do is grab troubled players. I agree that people need a second chance, but in today's NFL troubled players get suspended, unlike the 1970's where they were able to continue playing.
I lost respect for my hometown teams (Celtics and Bruins) when management used these teams for profit and not competition. They are starting to comeback, but it's gonna take more than a year to earn my respect again.

Yes I agree, root for your team, but never degrade the other team or their fans. It's one thing to have a friendly rivalry, boo the other team when they are at bat, cheer if they strike out, etc., but it's another thing entirely to say the other team sucks, the fans of that team suck, to use profanity, stuff like that.
I'm a Yankees fan, I do not nor have I ever liked the Red Sox, but I'm the first to admit they have a good team.

Dear Greta,
Absolutlely you respect teams other than your own. Even though i am a Dodgers fan-- i found myself rooting for the Rockies during their incredible run because i appreciated how much of their talent was home-grown (reminded me of when the Dodger farm system had consecutive rookies of the years).
Also respect organizations like the Red Sox and Yankees who make the necessary moves to win. And young clubs who are trying to get their like: the Tigers, Indians, and Diamondbacks.
i think respecting opponents is a very healthy thing in sports especially in a day and age that is so much focused on show boating and individual accolades. i love teams and organizations that are built around some of those old-fashioned values.

It's best to watch sports with nothing but the game in your judgment. Teams can be respected or disrespected, but the game itself is what truly deserves merit. The best test is to watch a game with teams in the minor leagues or from a different country. Is it a good game? Are they playing hard and fair? If so, they deserve respect. Rooting one way or another clouds this judgment.

Of course! I'm a Red Sox fan, but I respect the Yankees. I might not like them, but they're a great team - can't argue that.

the only communities that's plenty who get my appreciate. Are people who play the sport authentic. like the purple Sox, they don't fall interior the class by using fact back in 04-05, they began fights in video games wherein they have been triumphing. What a sore loser. i like communities to the place they play the sport authentic. overall performance improving drugs did not play in my decision. it quite is greater on a participant point, then the entire team.
