Wedge got116 points & Melvin got 119 points. They're both top notch managers and I think they fully deserved their awards! Congrats to both of them.

Anything you'd like to add or say about either of them?

Joba's_1fan claims that A-Rod is back and the YES network has confirmed it. I have looked at the YES network's site and I do not see any updates. Is this breaking news? Can anyone in NYC who has the YES network please confirm this story?

I think and have thought from the beginning ARod was going to stay in NY. There are no teams able to pay what he wants. I think NY sign him to an 8yr/230Mil contract!

The Yankees offered Rivera a 3yr 45mil offer and Rivera is still thinking about it? What the h*ll is there to think about? 15 Mill a year for a guy that is getting beyond his prime and pitches maybe 1 inning every 3 games? He needs to go sign that contract before they realize what they are doing! Dont get me wrong Mo has been great in pinstripes but I dont think he is worth 45mill for 3 years!!

I love their statement about Boras. Anyone else see who is the problem here?

"We will negotiate as long as Boras is not in the room."

Finally, someone stands up to Boras, albeit the Yankees.

Hopefully every team takes this stance.

what does everyone think of the odds of Barry making the hall of fame on his first try? I know he was a great player but will the steroid controversy follow the voters to not let him in?

Managers Of The Year

AL
Wedge (CLE) 116 points (named on all 28 ballots)
Scioscia (LAA) 62
Torre (NYY) 61
Francona (BOS) 13

NL
Melvin (ARZ) 119 points
Manuel (PHIL) 76
Hurdle (COL) 58
Piniella (CHC) 25
Black (SD) 4
Acta (WASH) 4
Yost (MIL) 2

Torre was named on 25 ballots, Scioscia on 24, which is interesting.

Only postseason team managers got votes in the AL, but I don't really have a quibble with that. There were a handful of strong teams and a lot of weak or average ones. The NL was much more equitable, though that doesn't mean those teams were great, because they were not. Gotta think the Mets' collapse is why Randolph didn't get ANY votes.

Among the four AL managers, only Francona did not get a first place vote.

Tomorrow, Peavy gets the NL CYA, officially.

Gray Sheffield did just fine dealing w/ the Yankees on his own. A 10 year $275 Million would be fair to A-Rod and the Yanks. I say it gets done within the month. Although Sheffield did take some time working on his.

ive heard a strong argument on both sides of this so i want some more info on it

Say that the yankees play the red sox at home. One of the bosox pirchers is throwing a no hitter. But the arod is on first in the ninth inning 2 outs and the red sox are about to win. Then melky hits a ball but arod touches it on the basepaths. Is that a no hitter?

Who is better altogether -- Albert Pujols or Alex Rodriguez? Can you nominate someone better? Let's leave pitchers out of it and go for offensive players only. Well, unless you want to include the batter's fielding, that is.

A. Rod wants millions and millions but, if the guy really loves the game and wants that World Series ring you would think he'd take a cut so the team he ended up with could afford more talent. I mean as far as money goes, him his children and his grandchildren are set for life. The man is talented but, as long as he stays somewhat greedy he'll never be with a team that has the means to go the distance. What do ya'll think?
