I'd put Biggio in the top 5 or 7 all-time.

Jeff Kent is an interesting case - GREAT offensive 2B. Defensely, not so much. Just offensively he's top 2 or 3 all-time (Hornsby, Morgan, Sandberg.) His defense drops him down considerably. He will be in the Hall - I'd say 3rd ballot, mostly due to his attitude with the media and teammates.

I would put Biggio top ten, Kent maybe top twenty. Defense is much more important in looking at second than such positions as first, RF, or LF. Kent has always been a bit of a butcher in the field while Biggio was excellent.
Biggio didn't just have a long career. Bill James makes a good argument for him being the best player in the game for a stretch because of things like getting hit by pitches, not grounding into double plays, and so on.
I would rather have Biggio than Kent as my second baseman any day of any week.

Craig Biggio is going in to the hall of fane.

Craig Biggio is about 8 1/2 from 10. Jeff Kent is about 8 from 10!

Why do people always want to downplay and act as if longevity is a bad thing? Without longevity, no one would have great numbers. I don't think you should hold that against people. Someone that has played a long time at a high level I call consistent and I think actually makes the player more valuable than just a few outstanding years surrounded by ok years.

I would rank Biggio probably about #8 all time second baseman. His numbers suggest higher, but with so many teams and a 5 man rotation, he is facing lesser talent than the old time players. Kent I would say is about 5th all time. His defense isn't as bad as many like to say.

Both Biggio and Kent should make the HOF but not on the first ballot. Head-to-head I would go with Kent over Biggio because of his power numbers at a traditional non power position.

Biggio is a first ballot HOF player. Longevity, multiple positions, multiple all star games, there was a time when he could be considered the best 2B in the majors. He was also generally well liked by the media, his teammates and fans.

Kent is a little tricky in that he was more a great defensive 1B playing 2B for a number of years. He has good power numbers and a couple of great years, so he'll probalby get in as well, but with the stink of roids around him he'll probably have to wait a few years.

Even though Jeff Kent's career is still active I would put him at the top of the heap. His numbers are superior to that of Joe Morgan and Ryan Sandberg who are already in the hall and he has greater power numbers than Biggio.

I doubt that Kent will reach 3000 hits but I'm sure by the time Kent retires he will have well over 400 career home runs.

Biggio has far better numbers than Morgan and Sandberg.

Biggio definitely Hall of Famer based on 3000+ hits, playing multiple positions and longevity with same team. He's ahead
of Jeff Kent who I don't think will be in The Hall.
