A. Rod wants millions and millions but, if the guy really loves the game and wants that World Series ring you would think he'd take a cut so the team he ended up with could afford more talent. I mean as far as money goes, him his children and his grandchildren are set for life. The man is talented but, as long as he stays somewhat greedy he'll never be with a team that has the means to go the distance. What do ya'll think?

His agent and players union has a lot to do with it. His agent, Scott Boris knows that he represents a special player, odds are A-Rod will destroy Bond's records plus who knows how many others? Also, A-Rod is an arrogant SOB who's ego dictates that he be the highest paid player in the game. His previous contract had a clause that if any player signs a contract worth more than his, then his contract was to modified to make $1 more than that other player.

The players union supports it because A-Rod's salary helps pull other players salary up. Now you have many players pulling in $17M+/season. If A-Rod gets $30M/season, that will just move the bar further up.

It doesn't work that way, baseball is a business first for both the owners and the players. It is all about the players giving 100% to the team willing to pay them to play.
