Who is better altogether -- Albert Pujols or Alex Rodriguez? Can you nominate someone better? Let's leave pitchers out of it and go for offensive players only. Well, unless you want to include the batter's fielding, that is.

Pujols hits for a higher average, while their power and runs production are very similar. So offensively, you could take Pujols in a close race. Defensively it's not a question - A-Rod in a landslide.

I'd take A-Rod.

Altogether, Albert the Great is the better option.

They're the 2 best offensive players in the game. In any given year one could be better than the other.

ARod plays a tougher defensive position and has better speed.

While Arod wants $35 mill per year, Albert is signed for $14.3 mill through 2010.

Unlike Arod, Albert is known as a reliable clutch hitter.
In 62 postseason games, Albert is at .331, 13, 35. Let's not forget, Albert was a the leader of a the championship 06 Cards.

Arod is a distraction off the field. It sells newspapers, but does not attract the kind of publicity a ballclub needs to build fan goodwill.

And, Pujols is 4 years younger. There is a greater chance of Pujols maintaining his production for the next several years.

Pujols can put up the numbers when healthy and has the protection. Plus, he's a team player and functions in the post-season! All respect to A-Rod, but El Hombre Grande is The Big Man!

A-Rod is over all the best player in baseball all of these A-Rod haters need to quit. And above everybody knows pujols was nowhere to be found in 2006 playoff run he was batting
.117. It was all eckeinstien or whatever hisname is. beside pujols is a sore loser he was so upset when he didn't win MVP last year that he dissed Ryan Howard.

I would go with A-Rod right now, he still has enough to steal a bag, he has the power, hits for average, hits doubles, drives in runs and scores runs like no one else...his defense is far better than Albert right now. I think when their careers are done he will have better numbers as well. As long as it is a contest on ability I would go with A-Rod...popularity of personality I would have to go with anyone BUT those two guys!

Pujols has more consistency, slightly less power, & is more intimidating a the plate. His defense at first is Gold Glove caliber.

These are the two best players in baseball at this time, edge to A-Rod because of speed and defensive ability.
