For YEARS, the Yankees have mortgaged their future by trading minor league prospects for current all-stars in an effort to win NOW. Sometimes it worked, other times it didn't. Was it inevitable that the moves New York made would catch up to them?

That the Indians won against the Yanks on Columbus Day.

Look how he shook up his Yankees by threatening to fire Torres at the beginning of the ALDS. What do you think?

I'm not a Yankees fan or anything, but should Joe Torre be let go? I mean, yea they've choked in recent years, but shoot, the guy managed them to 4 World Series titles. How many MLB managers has 4 Titles in 12 years? It's not his fault the players can't bat and the pitchers got owned

I really like Joe Morgan and Jon Miller. HOWEVER, Joe Morgan gives me a bad vibe sometimes. I really feel he is out for the white players. Its almost like hes been holding a grudge for many years against the whites and what his ancestors went through. It seams like he gives the black players more respect than whites. IMO .... I also like Steve Phillips, and whoever he is paired with for ESPN. Phillips offers a different point of view from a former GM. Which is sometimes cool to hear. What are you thoughts??

The Cleveland Indians deserve congratulations on a great performance in the alds, but all we here by the media is Torre is losing his job. The Yankees "dream season" ended to soon" etc. It's almost as if the writers are trying to stir up sympathy for the Yankees. I think they should be writing about Sizemore's great performance. Sabathia's solid outing. Shoppach's timely clutch hitting. Hafner's power hitting. But no, we'll get interviews of Jeter crying. Arod counting his millions Abreu counting his millions, Clemens at the hospital getting MRIs and counting his millions, and lots of other great individual contracts that make millions but can't make a team. What is it with this New York/Boston Bias that makes sports writers feel they can neglect the fans of the winning team? And by the way, for the record, I'm a Mariner fan. So I wasn't rooting for either team. But it was obvious to an outsider that even in the great Rockie's series, the writers were pulling for Philly.

Hmm. . . Just out of curiosity. . . Is A-Rod gonna leave the Yankees? I mean, if so, what good of a team will they be? Lol.

Mine have always been Field of Dreams, League of their Own, Angels in the Outfield, and 61*. I just saw Pride of the Yankees (Lou Gehrig story) and it is now on the list. What are your favorites?

After watching Joe Torre speak tonight on ESPN, I do have to say he is one classy man. I think that the $$$$ man in New York made a huge mistake saying he would be fired if they did not win the series...The Yanks gave 110%, The post season will not be the same without them.... Maybe next year.. GO SOX!!

if so, you're totally naive. If you disagree, just ask the basketball referee who was fixing games. I swear that one day a book will be written on just how fixed sports is. Like tonight's game........the morons go for a pass play on 2nd and 7 with a sure field goal and get picked off, then lose an on side kick? what a joke to think this stuff isn't fixed.
I actually think the NFL knows already whose in the super bowl before it even happens
I also think its funny how steinbrenner threatens to fire torre if the Yanks don't win. Is torre the one swinging the bat? is torre AROD, or JETER ? is torre up at the plate? is torre pitching ??
how retarded are these people in this world

How many of you indians fans are gonna listen to the game on the radio with the TV on mute? After listening to Chip and Bob on TBS be incredibly biased towards the Yanks, I won't be able to listen to Mccarver and Joe Buck do it all over again for the Sox. These biased announcers make the games hard to listen to.

Hopefully the Tribe will get the recognition they deserve after they beat the Sox

Im so happy the whining yankee fans are silent tonight. Im by no means a baseball fan, but I surely love when overpaid and overrated athletes are beaten by guys that play with more heart, and less money. I wish I could see the look at that creep Steinbrenner's face.
It's amazing how these players regardless of how good or bad they play, still get paid all this money. I have a super idea........pay them at the end of the season based on their overall performance for the season. Derek Jeter, posada, Arod, Matsui, waaaaaaaaay overrated !

Boston woulda crushed the yankees anyway so maybe its best there done. Boston will easily win it all.

Do you thing these guys deserve to get in?

2007-10-08 17:49:27 · 12 answers · asked by Anonymous

The Cubs bothered to take the field against the Diamondbacks.
Angels- Red Sox I didnt get to see much of.
Watching the Indians whip the Yankees @$$es was satisfying.
Rockies-Phillies was well played, too short and the lights went out.

Whats your assessment?

I may be out of my mind, but I think I remember a pitcher (possibly for the Devil Rays) who threw out his arm literally while on the mound. Does anybody know if this actually happened? Thanks

oh how sweet it is! I am not a bandwagon Wahoo either so this is just so incredibly sweet to beat the Yanks and to celebrate in the middle of their hallowed ground. I was at Games 1 and 2 in Cleveland - it was THE BEST. This might not be a question, per se, but who cares? Comments of celebration and of downright Yankee stomping welcome here!
