G'day Redwings fans,

Thank you for your question.

The Boston Globe reported on 30 September 2007. "The Boston Red Sox wrapped up the best record in the American League and secured home field advantage throughout the postseason with a 6-4 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Saturday.

After clinching the AL East title on Friday, Boston won again while the Cleveland Indians lost to the Kansas City Royals, ending the chase for the best record. (...)

The Red Sox will finish with the best record in the Major Leagues. Whatever the outcome, they would have had the home field advantage in the World Series since the AL won the All-Star Game."

The Red Sox has home field advantage for the ALCS.

Regards

The tie-breaker to determine which of two teams gets home field advantage in an LCS when they have identical win/loss records is determined by their head-to-head series record during the regular season.

In this case, the Boston Red Sox defeated the Cleveland Indians in 5 of 7 games during the regular season, and thus will have home field advantage in the ALCS meeting between these two teams.

Boston. I don't see it much of an advantage though. These young Cleveland players won't be intimidated.
