So do you yankee fans still think Clemens was worth that $28 million?

The Curse Of The Giambino:

When Tino became our first baseman in 1996, he helped lead us to 5 world series, 4 of which we won. Since he was traded and Jason Giambi was acquired, the Yankees have not won a world series.

Don "The Jinx" Mattingly

Yankees did not win a world series while Don Mattingly was our first baseman, but we had major success right after his retirement. Ever since becoming a coach, the Yankees have not won a world series.

I don't know about Donnie being a Jinx, but I really believe the first one. I think Giambi cursed the team when Tino was traded. Feel free to add other ones that you believe in.

I saw what happened last night it was terrible, how could a team like N.Y. lose at home?........ TO THE FREAKIN INDIANS?

As I watched him walk off the mound in game three I really felt that he had walked off for the last time. I hope he doesn't end up like Steve Carlton who, as we all know, became an embarrassment during his last couple of season. This is not to say the Clemens might actually be on the verge of taking the same path as "Lefty". Is his tank empty?

Was this in reference to the final 9 innings of the Yankees season?

They still WON'T give the Indians credit. They outhit, out pitched, out hustled and outplayed the Yankees. But I'm still hearing all over that the Yankees offense went south. I guess not even beating the yankees will give them respect.

Has anyone other than myself ever wondered if some of these people asking questions are really baseball fans? Think about it, someone just types things like "NYY love or hate??", "Don't you just hate the Red Sox??", "NYY and Detroit don't you hate them??" For some reason I just get the feeling that people want to stir up feelings, and make people argue. Does anyone out there agree with me?

(I know there are real fans out there - you're the ones who actually know your team and know the game, so I am NOT talking about you).

I know I have been trashing talking, but it's only some good nature ribbing. It should be a good series.

2007-10-09 02:55:02 · 6 answers · asked by Anonymous

Those aren't real Indians fans, the majority of Indians fans ARE NOT cocky or arrogant and that's the reason why I have been an Indians fan for so long, and that's why I can't stand some other teams so much is that the majority of their fans do talk trash. I say enjoy the win, and root the Tribe on so we can try to win the ALCS.

This is why I am so sick of Yankee fans. They can't ever seem to accept the fact that their team is bad. After losing Game 1, they said that in post season history, when the Yankees lose game 1, they go on to win the series every time, blah blah blah. That's exactly why we play the games. Well Yankees lost Game 1, and they now lost the ALDS. Yankee fans said they lost because Wang doesn't pitch good on the road. How long did he last at home last night? 1 inning! Why do Yankee fans continue to bring up historical stats when none of that has any impact on the current season? But look on the bright side, A-Rod got his first RBI in the postseason since 2004. That's a reason enough to through a ticker tape parade.

If the Yankees fire Torre, that would be the worst thing they could ever do. They need to release A-Rod, free up a lot of salary, bring in some young talent and some reliable and strong pitching. Don't re-sign Clemens either, he got paid $3 million for each win.

Joe Torre wins with his type of team. There is one person that i can blame for the yanks lack of world series wins lately: Brian Cashman. Specifically, his decisions to send away younger better players for older players. Joe Torre cannot be blamed for the way his team is assembled year by year. When they were winning championships they were winning with small ball infused with power hitters and AWESOME pitching. I think alot of it is the huge salary of one Alex Rodriguez. Dont get me wrong, i love the guy and he mashes, but he still isn't clutch in the postseason. The team has made dumb decision the past few years. Getting rid of Soriano, Trading Sheffield in favor of Abreu, getting rid of Flash Gordon, getting rid of Jose Contreras. Bad moves to me. I hate to say it but i feel for the yankees to win another title, they have to fire Cashman and let a-rod walk. They can 4 or 5 really good players for a-rod's salary, someone like David Eckstein, infused with young pitchers, and a masher.

It's pitiful if Joe Torre is fired just because his big money players always choke in the playoffs. Shouldn't the General Manager be fired instead of Joe Torre?

Whichever of these teams you were rooting for is now wearing that all too familiar "Wait Till Next Year" sign............For me it's the Yankees..........OUCH it hurts!!!!...........Yet we're all baseball fans and the World Series is the crowning glory of the sport.........Now that your team won't be a part of that are you going to root for another team to become the champs???........I'm sure baseball fans won't turn away from the W.S. because their team isn't in it.........I know I won't......That having been said which team will get your support for the rest of the playoffs and thru the Series???.....I'm going to root like hell for the Colorado Rockies..........They came on like gangbusters and I would like to see them win it all.............How about you???..........CAT

I was browsing through Wikipedia, looking up World Series scores, and noticed the 1969 Series where the New York Mets beat the Baltimore Orioles. In the intro and in the box scores, however, the Orioles are called the Nick K's. Wikipedia makes no mention of the Nick K's on their Oriole's page, so I'm just wondering. When and why were the Baltimore Orioles called the Nick K's?

Chien-Ming Wang allowed 4 runs in game four of the ALDS. The final score was Cleveland 6, New York 4. The "winning run" that the Indians scored was the fifth run, with the sixth being extra. As far as Wang is concerned, the game's winning run was not scored against him, but against Mike Mussina (who allowed 2 runs after Wang left). So why was Wang credited with the loss?

Championships. That's it George, now you can throw Torre under the bus! Now that you've used him up, do what you do best, fire him! Fire everyone! And while you're at it, fire yourself!

If this maniac ends his relationship with Torre in such a bush league manner, I for one will have second thoughts about supporting this team while he remains the owner. Some things are more important than winning all of the time. What are your thoughts on this subject?
