Most of the free agents will go wherever the money takes them. In the end, it is not about playing for a certain manager, it is how much will the players paychecks be.. I dont thin Torre staying or going will have any play on where the players go. That being said, I do not think A-Rod has any plans to stay with the Yanks. I think he will be playing for the Cubs next season, especially with Pinella as manager, becuase Pinella was A-rods manager for years in Seattle and they have a good relationship.

Well, A-Rod is not going to get the money he wants going to another team because the other teams do not have the payroll the Yankee's has. What about the washed up Roger Clemens? I think he should retire and this time, stay in retirement. Joe Torre is gone and A-Rod is right behind Torre.

Considering it is very illegal to offer ownership in a team to a player as a signing bonus, A-Rod will not be going to the Angels. There is only a hand full of teams out there that can afford him, and the one that can most easily afford him he is playing for right now. A-Rod is a very temperamental ball player; it takes him a few years to get comfortable enough with his environment to be successful. I think he knows this and has found that comfort level in New York. I don't think any other fans out there is going to be patient enough after paying him an ungodly amount of money to wait for him to attain the level he is at now.

A-Rod will make the deside what is best for him and his family. To think that players are going to give the Yankees owner and ultimatun for fighting Mr Torres is to be presentous (whatever).

Look Torres was the best while he was the best, however that is not the case any longer. Go Yanks!

who cares. the tv coverage last night was so soap opera like cheese-ridden it was pathetic. A-rod this, joe torre that. give me a break! what about cleveland? they won and don't have a megalomaniac bankrolling them to the tune of obscene amounts of money!

i really think major league baseball needs to do what the nfl has done and stop (all) owners trying to buy themselves a title every year by spending more on their players than other teams can afford.

that's not sport.

i'm watching the 2007 rugby world cup, and guess what? no adverts during the game because there are no time outs, no mention of how much money players are making, no celebrating and dancing in the end zone like a girl because you actually do your job on the field, and finally, it's a world cup because nations from all over the world actually compete against each other...imagine that!

world series...world champions...america is great at naming its sports these accolades that don't apply.

and i love baseball and american football.

but $port...? sorry, more like entertainment usa.

Steinbrenner is going to outbid anybody for the free agents he wants, regardless of who is managing the team.

He keeps all those huge egos together better than anyone realizes. If he gets fired that team will crash and burn. I feel bad for the new manager.

if he gets fired it might be smart for someon to get him, not just because of his great record, but he might be able to bring some talent with him.
