I would have to say that with a question like this you are leading the retard committee! There are some problems in certan sports, Basketball has been labeled as a "fixed" sport by many for years, especially since the Lakers beat the Kings to go to the finals a few years back on some very shady calls. That being said, if sports were fixed then LA, NY, Boston and Dallas would ALWAYS have the best teams and they would be battling it out every year in every sport as the final four. That would give them the highest TV ratings, the Cavs-Spurs would not be the Finals!

I agree some sports are fixed... I might be naive, but I dont think baseball is... On a side note, about Torre... Doesnt there come a time when your manager cant get the team over the hump, cant beat the big team or cant advance in the playoffs... Joe Torre was and still is a great manager, but he hasnt been able to deliver when it counted most since 2000.

It would be hard to fix games but then...The media scrutiny is so strong that fixing would be a real problem. The ref was a free agent - a fix of a game would require multiple folks to be involved.
As for King George - you got that one right, Torre is a fine manager who is one of the good guys in the game. Steinbrenner is an idiot.
So I disagree with you on the fixing of games but agree on the intelligence of King George. .500 is not too bad.

I completely agree! I intentionally throw pitches to my players so they can whack the ball as hard as they can and get singles and doubles (no triples or homeruns are allowed in noncompetitive ball). I'll throw underhanded, from my knees, whatever it takes to get all 9 hitters to reach safely in all 5 innings and score as many runs as possible, then stand back and laugh internally as the other team's coach throws fastballs past his kids like Nolan Ryan striking them out 1-2-3!
I LOVE IT!! I've had the highest ERA in the District 3 seasons running and couldn't be more proud. Yes, Delhi and the Catholic teams hate me, but that makes it all the better - that means I'm doing a good job for my kids!

If every sport were fixed, don't you think they'd do a better job?
Indianapolis, a small-market team, winning the Super Bowl?
The Yankees eliminated early again? Arizona and Colorado in the NLCS, instead of Chicago and Philly?
San Antonio, NBA Champions?
Hmmm.

i agree with you that steinbrenner is a complete idiot, void of any sense of how to run a team, but i don't think sports are rigged, it would be just too hard to have everything go right in every game to make it work

I disagree about all sports, but have my doubts about the NFL in certain games such as tonights game.
I'd love to have seen it but watched the baseball game instead.

Baseball is fixed, and yet the Yankees got eliminated...?
That doesn't add up at all.
I don't follow the lesser sports and so have no comment there.
