What can they do at this point? How can they win these games? Is anyone as disappointed as I am today?

I would rather the Yanks just take the wild card. As it stand right now they would play the Indians against whom they are 6-0(thats right, 6-0)if they win the division they would have to play the Angels and everyone knows they can't win against the Angels. So why is everyone psyched about the division. Sure it would be nice to have crowing rights but it won't mean anything if the Yanks don't go anywhere in the play-offs.

Admittedly, Young has more speed than Kingman, but it seems to be an apt comparison. In Kingman's rookie year (which was actually a typical type of year for him, other than the career high in basestealing), he hit .225 with a .303 on-base percentage, 29 homers, and 16 steals for the Giants (whose ballpark was about average effects in a moderate era). Young's rookie year stats thus far are .239 with a .298 on-base percentage, 32 homers, and 26 steals for the Diamondbacks (who play in a hitters park in a hitters era).

Is Chris Young the new Dave Kingman? If that's the case, should we expect him to have a similar career to Kingman, if enough teams are foolish enough to give him a roster spot?

There were a lot of ideas on radio tonight here in the bay area
to say "Thank You Barry" at ATT park. Maybe a statue like tnos for Mays,McCovey and Marichal. Any one got a "real" idea?

do you guys think that a team like the yankees should be celebrating after beating the tampa bay devil rays for a wild card spot, any excuse to throw alcohol around huh? kind of stupid, with the line up they have they should be undefeated. whats your opinion?

...the Mets might not even make the playoffs. I hope they do, since I like New York to win, but the way the things are going, anything can happen in that tight NL race to the playoffs.

The Yankees always have been a better team than the Mets.

Manny is currently 2nd on the list with 20 grand slams. Gehrig had 23 in his career. However, Manny hasn't hit a grand slam in the last 2 seasons.

Here's a link to the whole leaderboard (as of last year): http://www.baseball-almanac.com/hitting/higs1.shtml

And here's all of the grand slams hit this year: http://www.baseball-reference.com/pi/shareit/jySm

Here's all of Manny's career homers: http://www.baseball-reference.com/pi/event_hr.cgi?n1=ramirma02&type=b

In 2001 Barry Bonds had 73 home runs but only 137 RBI's, meaning over half of his RBI's came from driving himself in. Has there been another time when this has happened?

Yankees and Red Sox
Giants and Dodgers
or something else.

In my opinion, Giants and Dodgers. It's a long standing rivalry that stretches back to when they resided in New York State. The fans are rowdy and fights break out. Every season, youtube is filled with Giants Rule Dodgers Suck videos and vice versa. Message Boards on the official sites are bombarded with those messages and Yahoo Answers is filled with these messages.

New York and Boston are just overhyped because it's New York. The center of attention!

At some future time when people are more enlightened than they are in this current day and age (ie. there are no crusades to prevent athletes from doing what they believe is best for their health), everybody will look back upon the branding of home run ball #756 of Barry Bonds with an asterisk and consider it as embarrassing as we consider the Commissioner putting an asterisk in the record books next to Roger Maris's home run record. Someday, when people are debating whether Barry Bonds or Babe Ruth (or maybe somebody who is either currently playing or not yet playing) is the greatest player in baseball history, they're going to look back and be embarrassed at the way Barry Bonds was treated.

The Home run ball is headed to the Hall of Fame with an asterisk. I have one question for all you guys out there, WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?!?!? First off, Barrry Bonds may have never taken steriods (Have you idiots heard the term innocent until proven guilty?????). Way to deface an important object of history. How would you like it if i just walked into the Hall of Fame and spray-painted all of the items, just because I was suspicious that the HOF players cheated somehow? And as for you, Mr. Ecko, thanks for giving us a good look of what the true meaning of retarded is, with your stupid little publicity stunt. You spent $750,000 for....nothing, you F-ing dumb*ss. You wanted to send the ball to the HOF, but instead it has an asterisk on it, thanks to your f-ing retarded publicity stunt. What are you gonna do next? Buy a Giambi jersey and send it to the HOF with an asterisk on it? However, I agree with Barry, that the ball is not important, because the record still stands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
