Kevin Kennedy

The Red Sox did not trade Clemens, they didn't resign him after the '96 season and he signed as a free agent with the Blue Jays. That was when Sox GM Dan Duquette said Clemens was in the "twilight of his career". Few people in history have ever been so wrong.

But I digress. Kevin Kennedy had been the manager in 1996, but he was fired during the offseason and Jimy Williams was hired for the 1997 season.

The only time Clemens was traded was in 1999 when Toronto sent him to the Yankees for David Wells and a couple of other guys. Williams was still the Red Sox manager then too.
