In 2001 Barry Bonds had 73 home runs but only 137 RBI's, meaning over half of his RBI's came from driving himself in. Has there been another time when this has happened?

Alphonso Soriano has 31 HR's and only 65 RBI's this season. He is a lead off hitter, which explains the numbers.

btw, 137 is a great year, especially when you consider he did that in only 476 at bats - due to his BB's.

Kevin Maas, 1991, 21 HR, 41 RBI. (Wince at the memories, Yankees fen.)

Found two other examples in recent history where the player had exactly twice as many RBI as homers: Chris Hoiles in 1992 (20/40) and Bonds in 2003 (45/90).

There may be a few others I missed. (I didn't check for <20 homers, not very interesting).

No, but take into consideration that they almost never pitched to him with men on base. He was walked 177 times, many of them intentional for a MLB record which he has since topped-twice.
It seems to me, they even walked him once that season (might have been the season after) with the bases full.

Remember they rarely pitch to him with men on base and walk him so much.
