MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Time is running out on the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Brewers wasted a chance to cut their NL Central deficit to one game, giving up a first-inning home run to Albert Pujols in a testy 7-3 loss Wednesday night to the St. Louis Cardinals that saw two more hit batters and a pair of ejections.
"We're in a situation where we no longer control our own destiny, so we pretty much are in a must-win every day," said Ryan Braun, who drove in all three of Milwaukee's runs.
Chicago maintained a two-game division lead with four games to play despite a 7-4 loss at the Florida Marlins. Milwaukee starts a season-ending four-game series Thursday at home against San Diego.

It looks like either the Padres, Phillies or Rockies will be the Wild Card team. The division winners will be the Mets, Cubs and Diamondbacks. Four teams from the National League can make the playoffs. The Brewers will not make it. Sorry. I'm a Braves fan and they are not going to make it either.
Edit: But wait a minute. The Brewers still have a shot at the Cubs who have a two game lead with four to play for each team. Not very likely they can make it but it ain't over 'till it's over. Good luck.

Four teams. The three division leaders (East, West and Central) and the wildcard.
The Brewers wouldn't make the playoffs if the playoffs started today.
With four games remaining, they're out of the wildcard race, but they still have a slim shot at the Central division. Currently they're two games behind the Cubs.

4 teams from each league make the playoffs and the brewers would have been eliminated last weekend if the playoffs started today.

4 The three division champions and one wild card team with
best record of remaining teams. The Brewers & Cubs are still fighting it out for Central Division Champions so they have
to win that to get in.

Chicago, till they lose those coming video games against the nice and comfortable Astros! they have won their final 13 of 14 video games!! i wish typhoon Ike does not stop their momentum.. they're enjoying incredibly solid and you're able to tell they're enjoying their maximum suitable regardless of Carlos Lee's harm... they desire to win that Wild Card!! And their in basic terms 3 video games lower back!!
