It depends who wins the division. If the Yanks are in as a wild card, they will play the other division winner with the best record, probably Cleveland. If the Yanks win the East, they will probably play Anahiem.

In the divisional series, they will most likely play Cleveland, but they still could possibly play the Angels. They cannot play the Red Sox in the first round because they're in the same division.
They'll play the Indians if:
a) The Yankees are the wild card team and Cleveland finishes with a better record than L.A. or,
b) The Yankees pass Boston and win the division, and the Angels finish with a better record than Cleveland.
They'll play the Angels if:
c) The Yankees are the wild card team and L.A. finishes with a better record than Cleveland, or
d) The Yankees pass Boston and win the division and Cleveland finishes with a better record than the Angels.
Of these scenarios, I think A is the most likely.

if they win the AL East then they will play the Angels. Otherwise they play the Indians, of which they are 6-0 against this season. But since Boston just needs 1 more win to clinch the division it looks like its going to be the Indians vs Yankees and Angels vs Red Sox.
