Baseball - June 2007

I stopped after the strike shortened season. Recently I have been getting the yearning to watch again, since golf just doesn't cut it for summer sports. I mean how many times can you watch Tiger win. So is the game better, the same, or worse than it was in the 80s. Also, how have the cardinals been, I was a huge ozzie smith and gang fan.

I know they're winning and all and they have twenty-five rings or something like that but they're so classless. I don't mind a few players like Jeter and some of their old players like Gehrig and Berra but the whole fan base is terrible. Too cocky :/

Tom Hicks shoudl give up the Rangers? He is ruining the team because he thinks they can win with only good hitting, he won't pay for any good pitching. That's why they're doing bad this season!!

When you look at the scoreboards in ballparks that show all the other teams playing there is a number before both teams names. What is that number for?

Ever notice how every time a major record is about to be broken, the media calls it "the greatest record in baseball"? During the McGwire-Sosa race, the season home run record was the "greatest." In 1995, Ripken's consecutive game record was the "greatest." And a few weeks from now, when The Barry really bears down on 756, they'll call the career HR record the "greatest." Of course, I'm not forgetting Ryan's strikeouts and no-hitters, Rickey's stolen bases or Pete Rose's career hits.

(Note: I am NOT asking this question as a slam on Barry.)
