He came up with the Milwaukee Braves in 1960. Stayed with them when they became the Atlanta Braves. Then he went to the Cardinals in 1969 where he had his best season in 1971. He played for the Mets from 1975-1977. 9 time all star and a former MVP....a very solid player who will probably be more remembered for his time as a manager

The one thing that sticks out in my mind when I think of Joe Torre the player was the fact he played for 18 years and not once went to the post-season. But Joe Torre, the manager of the New York Yankees, has been in the post-season every year.
It's an ironic twist of fate.

I dont know his exact stats, but he played for the Braves, the Cardinals and the Mets. The funny thing is he also managed each of these teams, but he didnt become a great manager until he came to the Yankees, a team he never played for.
