Many of the Atlanta Braves have a black 33 on an arm band. What is it for?

it represents a player who died. The player was from my hometeam the Saint Louis Cardinals. He died in a car wreck because he was drunk. I forget his name but his jersey number is #33

Yeah, Josh Hancock (thanks creggz12). He died this year and the Cardinals are to wear those black and white #33 badges all season. I guess the rest of the teams are doing it too.

Nevermind. Sorry. jft_24 has this right. That link will explain it at the very bottom. Josh Hancock of the Saint Louis Cardinals are wearing #32 and the #33 is for someone else.

It is most likely for a player or coach, past or present who has recently passed away. I know the Yankees do something similar for Corey Lidle and the Cardinals for Josh Hancock.
