Yankee fans who grew up there are obnoxious because that's what living in NYC will do to a lot of people. A lot of people have to be brash and loud just to survive there, so I can sort of understand them, and I can't fault them for being passionate about their home team.
When US Steel was one of the most powerful corporations in the world, some sage said rooting for the Yankees is like rooting for US Steel. If someone in another state deliberately chooses to root for the Yankees, that says something about their personality. Either they're attracted to New York's brashness and want to emulate it, or they're so insecure they have to back a winner, and insecure people tend to put up an arrogant front. Self-selected Yankee fans aren't likely to have the fortitude to suffer for their team like Cubs fans or Boston fans before 2004. And they can always feel superior because they can harp on 26 titles and bash the Yankees haters for being jealous. That seems to me to be another reason insecure people would be drawn to root for US Steel--er, the Yankees.
Finally, a lot of their fans are spoiled brats. They have a team of superstars every year, and if the players don't have All-Star years and the team doesn't win the Series, they whine and scream for scalps.

When you win as many times as the Yankees have won you get the right to be cocky. What do you mean by classless? Yankee fans just love to see their team win.

Sterling is a whole homer. Makes no bones approximately his being a Yankee guy. An announcer, even a residence group announcer, nonetheless demands to gift all sides really and frivolously. All the quality announcers do this or did that like Vin Scully (Dodgers), Bob Murphy(Mets), Red Barber(Yanks), and so on. There are designated announcers wherein you anticipated them to be homers like Phil Rizzuto(Yanks) motive he performed for them his whole profession. Yet whilst he had to he nonetheless known as it down the center. But didn't disguise the truth that he used to be rooting for his Yanks to win. Sterling is only a paid voice and will have to act hence.

Cheering for the Yankees is like cheering for Exxon/Mobil. But like Exxon/Mobil, the Yankees are usually on top.
Classless or not.Yankee fans are probably disappointed less than any other fans.

Because they are spoiled, they get to the playoffs every year and they are in the news no matter what, win or lose. I am pretty sure they pay arod more than the Oakland A's pay their entire team. Go Twins!!!

It's because some of us unfairly believe that rooting for a winner makes us winners too. In too many cases, it only makes the fans bandwagon-jumpers.
