A Total team effort. As every pitcher that has thrown a no no or a perfect game has said (including Verlander) it is a team effort. He had some badass teammates and making some some incredible plays. Like Maglio's snag, Polanco and and the shorts (his name has slipped my mind) double play turn to end the 7th or 8th. And the interview Pudge gave showed you his aspect. He didn't care about his 4 at bats, all he was focused on was his catching. Making the right calls and framing pitches. With unselfish teammates like that playing behind you it makes a no no possible. And the Verlander. What else is there to say. He was locked in, hitting his spots, throwing gas, and making hitters look stupid. And did you see that second to last pitch of the game 102 102 10 fing 2!!!! That's some adrenaline!!! And then whats he do? Gives all the praise to his teammates! That team is headed places, there unselfish and truly love playing with and for each other. I loved seeing them jump around like kids. You really got to see the joy they have for the game!

Zambrano can and has. the two Dempster and Lilly have come close. top after Z pitched his, Dempster threw one into like the seventh or some thing. Lilly have been given close the subsequent evening too. possibly in some years Wells might have the potential and journey to throw a no hitter too. the youngster's have been given chops. in spite of the undeniable fact that, even nevertheless he's an excellent pitcher, i do no longer think of Harden will throw a no hitter. He has the stuff yet no longer the toughness. he's never good for lots greater desirable than 5 or 6 innings, no longer to indicate an entire pastime.

Many, many years ago, if a pitcher threw a no hitter, his contract was torn up and the team gave him a new contract with a $ 1000.00 a year raise. This was a staggering sum, Consider in 1955, Whitey Ford (Yankees) won 18 games and earned $ 20,000.00.
Now, to pitch 9 innings and not allow a hit, i still quite an acomplishment. It only happens 2-3times a year. Verlaned did a great thing.

It was incredible. Now I can say I've "seen" both of the last two Tiger no-hitters. (I listened to Jack Morris' in '84 and followed Verlander's by computer.)

It's amazing how nervous you can get as a fan!

Verlander had great control throughout the game. Devastating curveballs, 102 MPH fastballs in the 9th. Great defense by Casey, Perez and Ordonez.
