I know a team can get a "sandwich" pick if they lose a free agent. Who decides if the player lost is worth compensation? It all seems very arbitrary and weird to me. Just always been curious about that, I appreciate the help...

For example: My friend told me that Eddie Murray once had the highest batting average in baseball but won niether leagues batting title in 1990... I love random facts like that! Thanks!

He has 2788 hits between Japan and MLB. With 1468 more, he'll tie Pete Rose's 4256.

I'm not saying, if he does, it will be the new all-time hit record. Japan and MLB are different leagues. I just thought it would be interesting to see.

How are some hitters so much better than others? Especially at the major league level. All thoses huys are good, yet some are clearly better than others. I mean do some guys have such quick hands, or great vision at the plate? Then what makes the average hitters average? To get to the majors they have to be good, but what seperates the great hitters from the ok ones? Why does a guy like Soriano or Pujols hit so many more homers than everyone else? They can't be that much stronger than everyone else? What makes these guys so good?
