They actually dumped some salary this year and may lose another biggie after this year, you know who i mean! Start over w/ a new manager in 2008?

I don't think they will rebuild w/ a bunch of youngsters like the Marlins do every few years, but there will be some changes. I really think Arod's time is up in NY after the season, and they will go in a different direction. The aging Rivera is rumored to be replaced sooner or later. I think Posada has lost a step as well. They'll always build around Jeter, the golden child... The huge payroll will still be there of course... I could see them making a play for Johan Santana with the Arod savings.

I would use the term "rebuild" loosely when speaking of the Yankees. They won't gut the team and go through 2 or 3 losing seasons. G.S. wants to win now.

I think A-Rod is a playoff bust and needs to go, they need a couple of good, young, dependable arms on the mound, and some decent pop from the left side of the plate. Other than that, any players on the team need productive seasons and they are picking up another W.S. title.

Much of the team is still under contract for 2008. They'll bring back Rivera, Posada, and Abreu. Pettitte will be back if he stays healthy. If A-Rod goes, they'll go get a new 3B. They'd love to land a big time starter like Zambrano. Other than that, they'll just plug holes with trades, free agents, or by calling guys up.

No, Joe will still be with the team. I think they will have to re-build. Players are getting alittle gray behind the ears. The Sox will beat 'em this year. But the Yanks will be the wild card. They'll have to rebuild in order to contend from 2008 on.

The fact of the matter is the Yankees will NEVER be in a rebuilding stage. For one reason, the fans wouldn't allow it, and secondly, they like to spend way too much money to do so.

the yanks will never rebuild they buy quick fixes. as a yankee fan this isnt the best thing to see, but it does win games.
if they lose a rod (please dont go) it will be a huge hit but they will just sign a new 3B. its yankees tradition that if they lose someone (ie sheffeild) they get a replacement (abreu) and life goes on. and no, torre will be gone when he wants to. i dont see him getting fired, but he may be pressured into retirement, who knows, but think about it, if the yanks wanted him gone it would have been last year and they would have gotten pinella to replace him
