He has 2788 hits between Japan and MLB. With 1468 more, he'll tie Pete Rose's 4256.

I'm not saying, if he does, it will be the new all-time hit record. Japan and MLB are different leagues. I just thought it would be interesting to see.

Ichiro is 33. He will need 7 years of 200+ hits a season and at that time it will make him 40. That being said he has currently hit over 200 hits in all 6 of MLB seasons. Julio Franco is still playing at his age, and I see no reason why Ichiro couldn't do the same. Although he will never pass Pete Rose for the MLB record I think it is likely that he will pass his career numbers ( if you include his Japanese stats of course). What I find interesting is I believe he already has the record for most 200+ hit seasons in a row, it will be fun to see how far he can push that one!

I think it depends on his next contract. I think this will be his last contract and it will be for 6-7 years. Another issue will be if he gets out of Seattle. I think he will be more motivated if he is on a winning team. I think if these circumstances are presented in the right order and Ichiro takes care of himself then he could get to and pass 4256.

If Ichiro has 7-8 more years in him and the way he makes contact and desires to play and remains hea;thy, Hemight have a chance.

He could, but I doubt it. Either way, he's as good as Rose was.
