The MN Twins had a pitcher named Allan Anderson from 1986-1991. He actually got 2 World Series rings despite not having made either post season rosters. His only effective years were the years between the 2 Series 1988, 89, and 1990 in which he won 40 games and an ERA title. He was not a factor in the 2 title years that bookended his good years.
Also Kirby Puckett, in the strike shortened 1994 season drove in 112 runs in only 108 games played... can you imagine his total if the strike wouldn't have happened, like 170 or so!! Darn strike, the Expos may have actually won the World Series that year!

As a Cubs fan, I have plenty of stories...
Most teams have one manager all year, unless they decide to make a change due to poor performance. The 1961 and 1962 Chicago Cubs tried something a little different though. Owner P.K. Wrigley was so fed up with the teams poor play that in 1961 he created the "College of Coaches" where each of the team's 5 bench coaches rotated every day into the Manager position. The constant changes didn't bring stability to the team, as it posted a 123-193 record during the two years it was implemented.
In 1975 the Cubs finished a forgettable 75-87. The one highlight is on August 21 when Paul and Rick Reuschel become the first brothers in major league history to combine for a shutout in the Cubs 7-0 win over the Dodgers. Rick would go on to lead the National League in losses that year with 17.
On August 8, 1998 the Chicago Cubs played the first official night game in Wrigley Field history against the Philadelphia Phillies. President Ronald Reagan turns the lights on from the White House.
...and statistics...
Bill Madlock won the second of his two consecutive National League batting titles (1975 and 1976) by going 4 for 4 in the last game of the season.
Sammy Sosa was the first player to hit 60 home runs in two consecutive seasons (1998 and 1999), but failed to win the Home Run Title in either year. Mark McGwire became the second player to accomplish this feat 2 days later, and he overtook Sammy in 1999 to win the HR Title
Hope this helps!

In 1981:
"Due to the two-month strike, Major League owners elected to split the 1981 season into two halves, with the first-place teams from each half in each division meeting in a best-of-five divisional playoff series. As a result, the Oakland A's, New York Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies, and Los Angeles Dodgers were guaranteed playoff spots as first-half league champions."
In the National League West, the Dodgers had the best record in the first half, and the Houston Astros had the best in the second half, but the Cincinnati Reds won more games than anybody for the whole season. In the NL East, it would be the only time in history that the Montreal Expos made the playoffs.
In the American League that year, Rollie Fingers, who brought the handlebar moustache back to baseball, became the first relief pitcher ever to win the MVP (most valuable player award). He and the rest of the Oakland A's were given a $300 bonus by eccentric team owner Charles O. Finley back in 1972 to grow a moustache.

The only player in Major League history to hit 2 Grand Slams in the same Inning was Fernando Tatis....He had never hit a grand slam before in his career before....he hit both grand slams off of Chan Ho Park (in the 3rd inning)....and he set a record for most RBI's in one inning (8)

Um... in the Minnesota Twins metrodome stadium there's holes in the ceiling and one guy hit a ball right through the ceiling hole and they couldn't decide if it was a homerun or not, so they just gave him a double. That was pretty funny.
