I love the Twins, so Gardinhire is my man! He has done NOTHING but win since he took over, and that is very nice after enduring 1993- 2000 as a Twinkies fan! He has a great pitching coach in Rick Anderson, and Joe Vavra did extremely well as a first year hitting coach last year! LOVE GARDY! What a greta manager and nice guy, he is very good to the fans... very personable.

Casey Stengel, his unique sense of humor some even called it a shade on the demented side. His one-liners are historic. My favorite one is " A manager is only as good as the players he's got." Maybe today's owners ins ted of shelling out millions of dollars to hire a guy who just makes up a lineup, and sometimes doesn't have enough sense to change a pitcher when he's getting bombed should rethink their decseion. You can't fire the players for stinking up the field, but you can fire the manager and they are all overpaid including the players. For all of you who think iam wrong, when was the last time you went to pro ball game if you spent less than $30.00 you probably never left the parking lot.

Hmm.....
1. Forgot his name, he managed the Tigers....Whoeverheis it was preety impressive that he can lead a team of Bottomfeeders to a World Series title.
Wow. How?.....The World Will Never Know.
2. Joe Torre Not olny was he legendary as a player, he founded so many great talents for the Yankees, (Derek Jeter Jorge Posada ECT) He lead a usaly championship team in its darkest days to a World Series title. You have to admit, he did one of the best jobs in baseball with his managing skills. Although, he hasent been to the WS in six years I think its going to happen again.
3. Lou Pinnela - Florida Manager, low budget, team of rookies. What does he do? He wins the world series of course and whips the rookies into shape. They removed him as manager, but Florida is so cheap and you cant buy ANYONE. It WAS a mircacle that the Marlins acculy has a decent record and won the WS a few years back. Great Job Louie! Make It Happen in Chicago.

It would have to be Angels manager Mike Scioscia. I had admired him as the Dodger catcher growing up. He brought the Dodger mentality(pre-Fox era) to the Angels. He gave the Angels credibility as being contenders for the past several years. He's been very successful against the Yanks, and know how to coach his players. His system has also been able to produce two managers of other teams, Bud Black of the Padres and Maddon of the D-Rays.

A tie between
1) Ozzie Guillen because he is a proven winner, and people hate him.
2) Dusty Baker because his inability to put a starting pitcher in a relief role in deciding games of the post-season cost both Barry Bonds and Sammy Sosa a World Series ring.
Maybe it should be Pete Rose because he "loved" his team so much he bet every day on them. What a great guy. We have him all wrong.

I have to agree with fidel up there...Mike Soscia is a great manager. He knows how to develop talent and baseball fundamentals. He's also quite the jokster once you get around and get to know him a bit. He's great at managing in game situations and knows the true way to play the game.

Joe Torre, out of sympathy for putting up with so many rich babies and what's worst Big Boss George. He's an excellent manager who deserves more credit than what he receives.
