It seems that Marty Schottenheimer is great at getting wins in the regular season, at getting production out of his players, everything except making the right tactical choices in the playoffs, at crunch time - as head coach, he's not much of a chess player....
It almost seems as though Schottenheimer would be the greatest assistant coach for a team ever, working with his guys and getting them to perform, like a captain in the military, but leaving the battlefield strategy to the general - another head coach
Can you imagine a Holmgren or Belichick-led team with Marty as the defensive coordinator or assistant head coach?
