I mean could be it was all vice versa-Zidane was trying to provoce Italian with headbutt to get him booked,but hit lhim ittle harder then neccessary,or Materazii added a litlle acting..Ane the "best player of our time" got his well deserved red card.

How do you know if Italian said anything at all to him? After all Zian has along track record of acting unruly and violently(red cad in 1998, red cards in Juwentus etc)

seriously....thousands and thousands of kids at thousands of schools..and you guys are shocked by trash talking? Zidane head butted Marco Materazzi in an off play positon in total disrespect for FIFA rules and guidelines. It's really an embarrasing situation unbecoming of a great player as ZZ and this sordid act really did a bad blow to the french phycological ability on the pitch and I can say, it finally helped to wind down their morals and thus gave a real vigor to the Italians.....

Zidane was insulted by Materazzi (I heard from the radio that the Italian football player insulted Z's mother). What would you do if some jerk said that to you???!!!

Zidane knew very well that he was being filmed by a dozen of cameras and if he did that, the insult must be really mean and nasty.

If I were Zidane, I would FINISH the match, and then punched the sh** out of Meterazzi.

And why NOBODY talks about Meterazzi as if he was innocent????

I've just googled Maradona, and seen clips of him at Barca, he was amazing, I always thought he flopped there, which is why he left for Italy. I think this head-butt to the Italian player does irreparable damage not only to Zidane's image, but to the image of French football in the world stage. What do you think?

If you're going to be frustrated or angry, take your frustrations out on the field by scoring a goal or defending the ball--don't go hitting an opposing player.

He got red-carded and then he argues about it when the whole world saw him do it. What was he arguing about? That the Italian player dived? Give me a break. What a shame to the game of football. I'd be ashamed to show my face in public after that, if I were Zidane.

If he wants to repair his image, I would at least think about sending a letter of apology first to the Italian player he struck in such a cowardly manner, and another letter of apology to all the fans of soccer (addressed to all the fans of soccer, that is; not individual letters, of course!), and finally a letter of apology to FIFA.

What a way to end your career....
