Kobe can lead the Lakers to a Championship, but not carry them. He needs a couple big men to block shots. Kobe has shown that he can score and produce good offense, but he needs a team to play defense. They have enough young players coming through with Smush, Von Wafer, Bynum and Walton. However, they need defensive players in almost all the positions who are ready to play now.
Players like Emeka Okafor, Camby, Brand as big men would allow Kobe to play aggressive defense. Smush is picking up steals so the guard front is not a problem. The biggest worry for the Lakers would be getting playing that are willing to play with Kobe. The next biggest problem is getting these players, as the Lakers have very little to trade with.
All in all, i think it would be best for the Lakers to focus on developing their young players, especially Andrew Bynum (7 -ft), and put off their championship hopes for another year or so.

Yes. Kobe can carry the lakers to a championship. Honestley the roster they have right now isn't that bad, they were probably one shot away from the Western Confrence finals in the playoffs this year (they would of beat the clippers). Phill Jackson is a great coach and if he can mold players like Kwame Brown and Lamar Odom to be terrific talents. The bench is lacking a little bit, but it can be fixed through free agency and maybe a gem in the draft (Farmar). Where they are really laking is at the gaurd position although Smush Parker can really be a great guard, hes a solid defender, if he worked on his outside jumper he would really make kobes lif ea lot easier. Someone mentioned that Ben Wallace would be a good addition, thats true, but Kwame brings the same type of game to the table, he just needs to maximize his strengths and become more like a Wallace, not so much a scorer but a defensive anchor. Mihm can be a consistant player, its to bad he got hurt towards the end of the season. Walton will be good of the bench next year, his game has really improved and he is really getting a feel for jackson's system. Its all a learning process, even Kobe himsefl is learning and adapting to life after the Diesal. But yes, he has the talent to carry the lakers to a championship, perhaps even more then one. I believe in Kobe, hell do it, just a matter of time. (#24, the new Kobe Bryant).

each and every individual keeps speaking about the Spurs, Suns, Mavericks, Jazz, and Hornets. The Spurs are an truly good crew yet their problem is they're starting to be particularly previous and are the oldest crew contained in the league. i believe The Spurs are on a decline and it truly is their very last probability. The solar's window is ultimate for championship glory, agian; i imagine this 365 days is their very last probability as Marion and Amare are searching else the position it type of feels. Dallas alongside with Dirk are So hyped up. The Jazz and Hornets are good yet dont have the adventure. The Lakers will bypass atleast third round this 365 days if healthful. The tandem of KOBE and BYNUM and the whole help of Fisher, Odon, Turiaf, farmar, Sasha, and jarvaris can defenitly take them there next 365 days.

If the Lakers can do a good job building around Kobe, why not?
The lakers need a good veteran point guard to influence Smush and Farmar, Radmanovic is a great addition since he is a serious outside threat that the lakers badly need to stretch the defense out and allow space for the triangle to work better..
They do have good trade baits in Odom ,Kwame ,Devean or Mihm, to get them a solid player whether at Power forward or center who can give the lakers a much better help on defense and offense..
Whoever said that LA cannot win without Shaq needs help because he has a mind without the ability to analyze. Look at the guys in Miami compared to LA? Nuff said..

FYI, kobe CANNOT carry the lakers to a championship and not even in the 2nd round of the playoffs... all they need to do is bring back SHAQ for them to contend again but that wont happen... they just acquired radmanovic and they used almost all their salary cap on him. FYI, radmanovic is not the answer... but i have to give kobe some love, coz he's gearing up for another crack at the scoring title, which i think he will again win. but a championship? NAH...

NO! The reason magic & kareem won those championship's was because they weren't worry about stats. If you ask me kobe miss up bad I mean badd bad he might win some down the line but he could have made it a hole lot easer on him self being a team player. ( he said him self last season he had to learn to trust his teammates 9 years in the league and he's just learning to trust his teammates .Ha long road ahead.

Sure, if they get the right pieces. The current Lakers team, however, is VERY far from a championship though.

Kobe can't even carry my jock. If not for the NBA he would be dead or prison or flipping burgers. He is another example of an ignorant person.
